2026 Proton S70 Lite and Prime variants open for booking, estimated to cost below RM 60,000

Proton has expanded the 2026 Proton S70 range with two new variants, the Lite and Prime, both powered by a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre i-GT petrol engine paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

With estimated pricing of below RM 60,000, the new variants are expected to make the C-segment Proton S70 more accessible to Malaysian buyers. Bookings are now open at all authorised Proton dealers nationwide, while final pricing will be announced at the official launch.

Positioned as more affordable alternatives within the S70 range, the Lite and Prime variants are aimed at buyers who prioritise space, comfort and ease of use for their daily commute and family journeys.

Both variants retain the S70’s Proton Ride & Handling characteristics and come with three selectable drive modes. Proton also says the new variants offer 10 class-leading features covering cabin space, comfort, connectivity, convenience and safety.

These include:

  • Class-leading cabin space and rear passenger shoulder room
  • Soft-touch instrument panel
  • Leatherette seats
  • All windows with auto up/down and anti-trap function
  • Electric parking brake with auto brake hold
  • Remote engine start
  • Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • Rear Side Radar System
  • Reverse camera
  • Rear Seat Reminder

The Lite and Prime variants also come with six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, five USB ports and a Rear Side Radar System with Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Door Opening Warning and Rear Collision Warning.

According to Proton, the new naturally aspirated variants deliver a smoother and quieter driving experience, with the near-flat rear floor and wider body providing improved space for rear passengers. The company also claims class-leading noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) performance for both variants.

The introduction of the new variants comes as the Proton S70 continues to record strong sales momentum, averaging more than 2,500 units per month in 2026.

Customers who book and register a Proton S70 Lite or Prime by 31 December 2026 will also be eligible for an exclusive early-bird reward, with further details to be announced at launch.

To note, this is very likely a separate development from the recently-spotted, quad-exhaust S70 mules that's running around town.

Estimated below RM 60,000?? There's two new entry-level Proton S70 variants coming soon, with prices that would make you reconsider other options. Out goes the turbo engine, the S70 Lite and Prime get the Saga MC3's NA 1.5L i-GT engine instead. No DCT too, replaced by a CVT. #proton #protonS70 1 minute ago Xiaomi to the world!
