A camouflaged Proton S70 test mule has been spotted on Malaysian roads, hinting that the sedan could be in line for a mid-life facelift.
The image, which surfaced on social media, only shows the rear of the vehicle, making it difficult to determine the full extent of the updates. However, despite the heavy camouflage, the prototype appears to feature a redesigned rear bumper, new tail lamps and a pair of twin exhaust outlets.
Whether the exhaust tips are functional or purely decorative remains to be seen.
While Proton has yet to confirm the existence of the facelifted S70, reports suggest the updated model could receive more than just cosmetic revisions.

According to various sources, the facelift is expected to introduce a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine paired with a CVT (potentially shared with the Saga MC3?), alongside the existing 1.5-litre i-GT turbocharged engine and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
If accurate, the naturally aspirated powertrain is expected to be offered on the entry-level Classic Executive and Classic Premium variants, while the turbocharged engine will continue to power the Flagship and Flagship X grades.

The same sources claim the lower-spec variants may retain the existing exterior design, with the visual updates reserved for the two higher-end variants. These are said to include a redesigned front grille, revised front and rear bumpers, smoked tail lamps, new 17-inch alloy wheels and refreshed interior trim.
The range-topping Flagship X could also receive a new aerodynamic body kit, along with a contrasting black roof, mirror caps and door handles, although a sunroof is reportedly not part of the package.
As always, these details remain unconfirmed until Proton makes an official announcement. With multiple new models reportedly in the pipeline, including the upcoming Saga Cross, it may not be long before the refreshed S70 makes its official debut.
