2026 Voyah Dream 9 launched in China, from RM 255k, exports from November

The 2026 Dongfeng Voyah Dream 9 has officially launched in China, with six variants priced from RMB 419,900 (~RM 255k) to RMB 529,900 (~RM 322k). The flagship MPV offers both plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrains, with Ultra, Ultra+ and range-topping Lizun trim levels.

It succeeds the Voyah Dream previewed at KLIMS 2026 in June, although Malaysian buyers will have to wait for local specifications and pricing. Right-hand-drive (RHD) versions are expected to reach overseas markets from November, putting the brand’s international expansion into clearer focus.

A larger presence, with cabin flexibility to match

The Dream 9 adopts a prominent chrome grille, Huawei XPixel projection headlamps and a full-width rear light signature. Buyers in China can also specify two-tone paint, customised body pinstriping and alternative wheel designs.

At 5,325 mm long and 1,998 mm wide, with a 3,200 mm wheelbase, the Dream 9 is 315 mm longer and 148 mm wider than the Toyota Alphard, while its wheelbase stretches a further 200 mm.

Inside, Huawei’s HarmonySpace 6 cockpit system joins second-row seats offering rotation, lateral adjustment, zero-gravity positioning and mechanical massage. Adaptive dimming glass serves the second and third rows, while detachable armrest screens provide cabin controls.

Voyah describes the interior as offering eight configurations for business use, relaxation and travel. The second-row seats’ 180-degree swivel function is central to that flexibility, allowing occupants to change how they use the passenger compartment.

Plug-in hybrid and full EV options

An 800-volt electrical architecture underpins the range. The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) gets a 65 kWh battery with 5C charging capability, allowing a claimed 20% to 80% recharge in 12 minutes. And is able to cover up to 1,530 km under the domestic CLTC cycle.

The fully electric version pairs a 175 kW front motor with a 300 kW rear motor. Its 120 kWh battery delivers a claimed 701 km of range under the CLTC cycle.

Air suspension and rear-wheel steering

The Dream 9 introduces Voyah’s Huju P chassis, combining double-wishbone front and five-link rear suspension with three-chamber air springs and dual-valve electronically controlled dampers.

Rear-wheel steering, offering up to 10 degrees of steering angle in either direction, is standard. Huawei Qiankun ADS 5 driver assistance and four lidar sensors also feature.

The hardware promises a broader balance between passenger comfort and manoeuvrability, although a proper assessment of ride quality and handling will have to wait until we drive it.

Strong reservations ahead of launch

Voyah says the Dream 9 attracted more than 30,000 preliminary reservations within 48 hours of its pre-sale campaign opening. Over half were for the Lizun variant, while more than 20,000 came from existing Voyah owners replacing their vehicles or purchasing an additional car.

Exports expected from November – Malaysia likely to start with CBU models

Exports of the right-hand-drive (RHD) Dream 9 are expected to begin in November, roughly two months after its Chinese launch. That short turnaround suggests overseas requirements were considered during the model’s development, including preparations for RHD markets.

For Malaysia, the Dream’s appearance at KLIMS 2026 provided an early introduction to Voyah’s luxury MPV offering. The arrival of its successor now gives that introduction a more immediate relevance.

The Dream 9 would likely enter Malaysia in fully imported (CBU) form first, with local assembly (CKD) following at a later stage. Both fully electric and plug-in hybrid versions are reportedly planned, potentially giving buyers a choice of powertrains.
