Considering a Proton X50? Here are the specs, features and where to test drive in Malaysia

The Proton X50 remains a popular choice in Malaysia's B-segment SUV market, thanks to its sporty styling, turbocharged performance and generous list of technology features.

For buyers looking for an SUV that's easy to drive around town but still practical enough for family use, the X50 is worth a closer look. Its compact dimensions make it manageable in traffic and tight parking spaces, while the cabin offers room for everyday needs.

Here's a closer look at the Proton X50's dimensions, engine specifications, equipment and prices, along with a Proton 3S centre in Cheras where you can arrange a test drive.

Dimensions and performance

Dimensions

The Proton X50 measures 4,380 mm long, 1,795 mm wide and 1,609 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,600 mm.

Those dimensions put it firmly in the B-segment SUV category. It's compact enough for city driving and parking, without sacrificing the headroom and legroom needed for daily commuting or family trips.

Engine and driving features

All three Proton X50 variants use a 1.5-litre i-GT turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine, paired with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

  • Engine power: 181 PS
  • Peak torque: 290 Nm
  • Driving modes: Normal, Eco and Sport
  • Steering: Electric Power Steering (EPS), offering Normal, Comfort and Sport settings
  • Braking: Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto Hold
