New-generation Li Auto Mega launched – RHD promised, any luck for Malaysia?

The new-generation Li Auto Mega has made its official debut, bringing a substantial round of updates to the company’s flagship electric MPV.

More importantly, Li Auto has confirmed that right-hand-drive (RHD) versions will be introduced in the fourth quarter of 2026. Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore and Thailand are among the first markets named, marking the Mega’s move into a wider global market.

In Li Auto’s own words, its “mobile home” is now going global.

For China, the 2026 Li Auto Mega is priced at CNY 509,800 (~RM 307k). One variant will be made available, though Chinese customers can customize their Mega with a host of colours and wheel choices.

413 kW and 710 km of CLTC range

The new Mega continues with a dual-motor intelligent all-wheel-drive system.

The front motor produces 155 kW (211 PS) and 232 Nm, while the rear motor delivers 258 kW (351 PS) and 425 Nm. Combined system output is rated at 413 kW (561 PS) and 657 Nm, enabling a claimed 0–100 km/h time of 4.9 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 200 km/h.

Power comes from a 108 kWh ternary-lithium 5C battery on an 800-volt electrical platform. Li Auto quotes a CLTC range of 710 km, with an official combined energy consumption figure of 15.9 kWh/100 km.

The Mega supports charging power of more than 520 kW, with a claimed 10-minute charging session adding up to 500 km of range under the specified conditions. As always, real-world range and charging times will vary with temperature, driving style, traffic, payload and charger capability.

More than just a large MPV

The new Mega’s chassis has also received a substantial overhaul.

It uses a double-wishbone front suspension and H-arm multi-link rear suspension, together with dual-chamber air springs, dual-valve CDC dampers, an 800V active anti-roll system and steer-by-wire technology.

Rear-wheel steering is included, with a 5.5-metre turning radius in its more agile setting. A more stable mode increases this to 6.2 metres. The system is also integrated into the vehicle’s intelligent parking functions, helping to make a 5.35-metre MPV less intimidating in tight urban spaces.

The suspension can also adjust the vehicle’s ride height for easier entry, loading and parking. Li Auto’s “elephant welcome” function lowers one side of the vehicle by 30 mm in around two seconds to make getting in and out easier.

Familiar shape, more polished details

The new Mega retains the distinctive, highly aerodynamic profile of the original model, but gains a number of detail changes aimed at improving both usability and regulatory compliance.

The updated Li Auto Mega measures 5,355 mm long, 1,965 mm wide and 1,850 mm tall, with a 3,300 mm wheelbase.

The front bumper has been redesigned with cleaner surfacing, while the new model receives a fresh exterior colour and revised rear-end detailing. The tailgate and rear bumper have been adjusted, with the tail lamps flowing more neatly into the surrounding bodywork.

The most obvious functional change is the adoption of new semi-hidden door handles designed to meet China’s latest vehicle regulations while retaining the clean appearance expected of a modern EV.

A roof-mounted LiDAR sensor remains part of the package. Depending on specification, the Mega may also be available with side-mounted LiDAR units and a rear blind-spot LiDAR system, expanding the vehicle’s sensing coverage.

A new “Home” badge at the rear reinforces the model’s positioning as a family-focused flagship.

A more lounge-like rear cabin

Inside, the new Mega moves further towards Li Auto’s “mobile home” concept.

The front and second rows receive four full-size zero-gravity seats in total. The second-row seats can rotate continuously, including a 45-degree position for easier boarding, a face-to-face lounge layout and a zero-gravity seating mode.

A new floating combination table can be configured as a large dining table, a small side table or a half-table. The second row also receives electric leg rests, heated cushions, 18-point hot-stone massage and diamond-quilted Nappa leather upholstery with “Home” embroidered cushions.

The third row gains ventilation, heating and electrically adjustable backrests with up to 40 degrees of recline. It can also be folded forward to expand luggage space.

The rear cabin is fitted with a Home Light ceiling lamp, starry-sky ambient lighting, dual panoramic roofs and 270-degree electrochromic glass covering the second-row side windows, third-row side windows and rear window. A 10-litre electrically powered refrigerator offering cooling, freezing and heating functions is available as an option.

Entertainment equipment includes a 21-inch OLED 4K movable rear screen and a 33-speaker, 5,440-watt theatre audio system with Dolby Atmos.

Four LiDAR sensors and dual MACH M100 chips

The new Mega also receives a major intelligent-driving hardware upgrade.

It is equipped with four LiDAR sensors – one forward-facing unit, two side-mounted solid-state variable-focus units and one rear-facing unit – together with dual MACH M100 chips.

Li Auto’s Mega VLA model supports navigation-assisted driving on highways, urban roads and city streets, as well as intelligent parking in unfamiliar parks and car parks. The system is designed to handle tasks such as autonomous lane changes, route planning, obstacle avoidance, traffic-light intersections and remote parking commands.

The equipment list also includes a 29-inch OLED 6K panoramic front display, a 21-inch OLED 4K rear screen, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8797 cockpit chip, head-up display and multi-screen cabin interaction.

Li Auto notes that some functions are dependent on future OTA updates and that driver-assistance systems remain supplementary aids. Drivers must continue to supervise the vehicle and remain responsible for its operation.

The Mega goes global

The right-hand-drive (RHD) rollout is arguably the most significant announcement surrounding the new model.

Li Auto has confirmed plans to bring RHD versions of the Mega to Hong Kong and Singapore by the end of 2026, as part of a broader international expansion strategy.

The addition of Macau and Thailand would give the Mega a stronger foothold in the region, particularly among buyers looking for a large, premium electric MPV with a family-oriented interior.
