Proton eMas recorded its strongest monthly performance since its launch in August, with total sales surpassing the 6,000-unit mark for the first time.
The brand delivered 6,047 vehicles during the month, including 5,999 domestic registrations and 48 export units. According to Proton, this makes eMas the fastest xEV brand in Malaysia to surpass 6,000 monthly sales

The milestone was achieved less than two years after the launch of the Proton eMas 7 on 16 December 2024. It also means that an average of one eMas vehicle was registered in Malaysia every seven minutes throughout August.
The eMas 5 was the main driver behind the brand’s performance, accounting for 4,770 domestic registrations, or nearly 80% of its monthly total. The eMas 7 and eMas 7 PHEV recorded 613 and 616 domestic registrations respectively.

Selangor contributed 51% of Proton eMas’ domestic sales in August, followed by Johor and Penang. Combined, the three states accounted for 71% of the brand’s domestic registrations during the month.
For the first eight months of 2026, Proton eMas recorded 27,402 domestic registrations and 453 export units. Its export markets include Nepal, Trinidad and Tobago, Singapore and Mauritius, bringing total year-to-date sales to 27,855 vehicles.
“We are grateful for the trust and support Malaysians have placed in our brand,” said Zhang Qiang, chief executive officer of PRO-NET.
The brand’s sales performance has been supported by the continued expansion of its retail and aftersales network.
Proton eMas now has 60 dealerships, 46 service centres and 10 body and paint centres nationwide. This represents significant growth from 36 dealerships and 29 service centres as of 31 August 2025.

Selected Proton eMas dealerships also offer access to 103 DC fast chargers, while the integrated live charging map, available in all eMas vehicles and through the eMas app, provides access to more than 4,700 charging points nationwide.

This includes more than 1,500 charging points located across over 600 high-rise residences.
PRO-NET is also investing in local technical talent through its inaugural Aftersales Skills Competition, organised in collaboration with TVETMARA.
The programme is designed to give Malaysian technical personnel a platform to demonstrate and improve their electric vehicle aftersales skills, while supporting higher standards of technical competency within the country’s growing xEV sector.
Proton eMas says the initiative will also contribute to the development of a stronger pipeline of skilled Malaysian personnel and support the long-term localisation of the country’s electric vehicle industry.
