Model Overview

The Audi Q8 e-tron is the flagship all-electric mid-to-large SUV from Audi, officially launched on 9 November 2022. It is essentially a mid-life facelift of the Audi e-tron introduced in 2018; to provide clearer product positioning and underline its flagship EV status, Audi badged it under the "Q8" moniker for this update. The Q8 e-tron lineup is offered in two body styles: standard SUV and Sportback coupe-SUV. In terms of powertrain choices, three variants are available—50 e-tron, 55 e-tron, and SQ8 e-tron—paired with two battery capacity options. In the German market, prices started from 74,400 euros (approximately RM542,800). In Taiwan, the Q8 50 advanced and 55 advanced were priced at RM3,185,000 and RM3,685,000 New Taiwan Dollars respectively. As of June 2026, the model has officially ceased production.
Design Language
Exterior-wise, the Q8 e-tron continues Audi's signature family design language while incorporating refined detailed upgrades. Up front, it retains the iconic octagonal Singleframe grille outline, now featuring an active shutter system that automatically opens and closes to manage airflow, optimising aerodynamics while boosting cooling efficiency. The front badge adopts a 2D flat aesthetic with white four rings set against a gloss black glass background, delivering a sophisticated, premium look. Flanking the front bumper, larger air curtains feature integrated aerodynamic air guides. In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,915 mm long, 1,937 mm wide, and 1,633 mm tall (1,619 mm for the Sportback), with a 2,928 mm wheelbase. At the rear, the full-width LED light bar features revised internal lighting graphics for enhanced visual presence. Thanks to these aerodynamic enhancements, the drag coefficient drops from 0.28 to 0.27 on the standard SUV and from 0.26 to 0.24 on the Sportback.
Inside, the Q8 e-tron retains Audi's signature digital cockpit layout. The cabin features a three-tier architecture equipped with a 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus, a 10.1-inch central infotainment touchscreen, and an 8.6-inch climate control and seat function display. The interior is lavishly appointed with premium materials, with selected trims offering sustainable technical upholstery crafted from recycled PET bottles.
Powertrain & Performance
The Q8 e-tron is available with two battery capacities across three powertrain setups. The Q8 50 e-tron features dual front and rear electric motors paired with an 89 kWh battery (95 kWh gross), generating a maximum output of 250 kW (approximately 340 hp) and 664 Nm of peak torque in Boost mode. The 0-100 km/h sprint takes 6.0 seconds. Under WLTP test cycles, the standard SUV achieves a driving range of 491 km, while the Sportback delivers 505 km. The Q8 55 e-tron also employs dual motors alongside a 104 kWh battery (114 kWh gross), pushing out 300 kW (approximately 408 hp) and 664 Nm. The 0-100 km/h acceleration is completed in 5.6 seconds. Its WLTP range stands at 582 km for the standard SUV and up to 600 km for the Sportback. Meanwhile, the performance-oriented SQ8 e-tron adopts a tri-motor layout—one on the front axle and two on the rear—delivering a combined 370 kW (approximately 503 hp) and a colossal 973 Nm. It dispatches the 0-100 km/h run in just 4.5 seconds. WLTP range is rated at 494 km for the SUV and 513 km for the Sportback. Top speed is electronically governed at 200 km/h for the 50 and 55 variants, and 210 km/h for the SQ8. For charging, the 50 variant supports up to 150 kW DC fast charging, whereas the 55 and SQ8 support up to 170 kW, allowing a 10% to 80% state of charge in roughly 31 minutes.
Chassis & Handling
Under the skin, the Q8 e-tron comes standard with adaptive air suspension across the range, capable of altering ride height by up to 76 mm according to driving conditions. Audi has refined driving dynamics with a quicker, more direct steering ratio, revised rear suspension geometry, and a more rigid front suspension subframe. The suspension setup utilises independent five-link systems front and rear. Power is distributed via the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. Working in tandem with the low centre of gravity from the underfloor battery, the air suspension keeps body roll exceptionally well contained during cornering in Dynamic mode.
Cabin & Equipment
Inside the cabin, the Q8 e-tron comes standard with the 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch central touchscreen, and an 8.6-inch climate control panel. The system runs on MMI touch response with MMI navigation plus, alongside standard wireless Apple CarPlay smartphone integration. In terms of comfort amenities, the SUV features a panoramic glass sunroof, four-zone automatic climate control, front seat massage functions, and a head-up display. Virtual exterior side mirrors with door-mounted OLED displays are also available as an option in selected markets. For practical storage, boot capacity expands up to 1,637 litres on the standard SUV with the rear seats folded, and 1,567 litres on the Sportback.
Safety & Driver Assistance
On the safety front, the Q8 e-tron secured a full five-star ANCAP safety rating. In evaluations by the US IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety), the standard crash prevention system achieved a "Superior" rating in daytime conditions and an "Advanced" rating at night. Active safety equipment includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Blind Spot Monitoring. On the driver assistance side, a newly added remote park assist allows drivers to manoeuvre the vehicle in and out of parking bays externally via a smartphone.
Market Performance & Overview
The Q8 e-tron saw lukewarm reception in the global market. In 2023, global sales recorded only 49,001 units, down 4.3% year-on-year. Sales slumped another 27% in 2024. In the US market, 2025 sales collapsed to just 642 units—an 89% drop compared to 5,978 units in 2024. Prompted by sustained weak demand, Audi announced plans in July 2024 to terminate Q8 e-tron production prematurely. The Brussels facility in Belgium, the model's sole global production hub, officially ceased operations on 28 February 2025, with the final Q8 e-tron rolling off the line on the same day. Industry analysts pointed out that because the Q8 e-tron was adapted from the ICE-derived MLB Evo platform, its range fell behind dedicated EV rivals; simultaneously, the arrival of the PPE platform-based Q6 e-tron triggered severe internal cannibalisation. Overall, while the Audi Q8 e-tron represented an important flagship step in the brand's early electrification shift through its mid-life repositioning, lacklustre market reception led to an early demise, marking a poignant chapter in Audi's EV transition.
