Model Overview

The EXEED Lanyue is the flagship D-segment SUV under Chery's premium marque, EXEED. Originally codenamed "EXEED VX", it was later officially christened "Lanyue". Underpinned by Chery's M3X Mars platform, the model anchors on core selling points of "generous cabin space, robust performance, and cutting-edge tech", precisely catering to both family road trips and executive business duties.

The 2026 400T range carries an official retail price ranging from RM187,900 to RM209,900. Factoring in various promotional incentives and subsidies, entry prices start from as low as RM159,900, available in both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations. Standing as a prime contender in the Chinese D-segment SUV space, the Lanyue undercuts equivalent joint-venture rivals by roughly 25% to 35% whilst offering spec levels that punch well above its class.

Design Language

The EXEED Lanyue carries an imposing and sophisticated styling package. Its front fascia is dominated by an octagonal gaping radiator grille, flanked with three robust horizontal silver louvres. A prominent full-width chrome bar runs across the upper nose carrying the EXEED script, seamlessly merging into the LED headlamp assemblies on either flank. The profile exhibits clean, chiseled lines complemented by subtle chrome garnishes along the side skirts and window surrounds, while the rear features a continuous full-width LED taillight bar that visually broadens the vehicle's stance, underscored by dual exhaust outlets below.

The 2026 model year receives a mild facelift, taking after the rear aesthetic of the Lanyue C-DM with redesigned tail lamp internals for an unmistakable lighting signature. In terms of exterior dimensions, most variants measure 5,010 mm long, 1,940 mm wide, and 1,800/1,810 mm tall, with an expansive 2,900 mm wheelbase. It rides on 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, wrapped in either Maxxis or Continental rubbers depending on the trim level.

Inside, the 2026 iteration boasts a triple-screen dashboard layout consisting of a 12.3-inch full digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch central touchscreen infotainment unit, and a dedicated 12.3-inch front passenger entertainment display, all neatly integrated into the dashboard. The interior palette gains a fresh Black/Brown two-tone scheme paired with a black knitted headliner, upgraded cloud-soft leather upholstery, and revised storage cubbies including the central armrest console. A two-spoke steering wheel, an electronic gear selector, and steering-mounted paddle shifters come together to deliver an executive yet tech-laden cabin ambiance.

Powertrain and Performance

Performance remains a core technological highlight for the EXEED Lanyue. The entire 2026 lineup is powered by Chery's in-house SQRF4J20C 2.0-litre TGDI four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, pushing out 192 kW (261 PS) and 400 Nm of peak torque, capable of a 200 km/h top speed. The mill features a 350-bar direct fuel injection system and dual balancing shafts, achieving a peak thermal efficiency exceeding 38% while complying with China VI emissions standards. Power is channelled via an Aisin 8-speed torque-converter automatic transmission (8AT), offering marked improvements in low-speed shift smoothness and overall refinement compared to the previous 7-speed wet dual-clutch unit.

On the efficiency front, the 2WD model posts a combined WLTC fuel consumption figure of 8.4 L/100 km, while the 4WD variant is rated at 8.98 L/100 km; the entire range is tuned to run on RON 92 petrol, keeping running costs in check. In addition, the EXEED Lanyue is offered with a 1.5T C-DM plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain paired with a 3-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) and a tri-motor AWD layout, providing a dedicated electrified option for eco-conscious buyers.

Chassis and Handling

Riding on Chery's M3X platform, the EXEED Lanyue employs a front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link independent suspension setup, striking a fine balance between cost-efficiency, load-hauling capability, and broad suspension tuning bandwidth. The suspension demonstrates commendable compliance, adeptly soaking up road undulations, speed humps, and rough road surfaces with a genuinely plush ride quality.

The range-topping 2026 Feiyu (Flying Fish) Edition is further fitted with Continuous Damping Control (CDC) adaptive dampers, which actively tailor damping forces in real time to suit surface conditions, notably sharpening high-speed composure and ride comfort. Power distribution is managed via a BorgWarner intelligent AWD system, serving as the main differentiator across the variant ladder. AWD models are also equipped with multi-terrain modes including Sand, Mud, Snow, and Off-Road for tackling tricky conditions. The braking setup delivers a 100–0 km/h stopping distance of 36.5 metres, standing tall among contenders in its segment.

Cabin and Features

At the heart of the Lanyue's digital cockpit is the Lion 4.0 infotainment operating system built on the Baidu Apollo ecosystem, driven by an Intel Apollo Lake 2.0 GHz quad-core processor to ensure slick responsiveness. The infotainment suite supports FOTA over-the-air updates alongside Apple CarPlay and HUAWEI HiCar connectivity. Bolstered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chipset, the system delivers an effortless user experience.

Cabin amenities on the 2026 range include standard heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and tri-zone climate control with dedicated rear controls. Select trims benefit from a bespoke SONY premium audio system and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology, offering stellar NVH suppression for a whisper-quiet ride. The second- and third-row seats feature split-folding mechanisms that fold completely flat; even with all seven seats deployed, the boot retains sufficient volume to swallow three 28-inch suitcases, effortlessly accommodating full-family road trips.

Safety and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)

On the safety front, the EXEED Lanyue comes comprehensively kitted out as standard with 6 airbags (dual front, side, and full-length curtain airbags), Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). The vehicle structure incorporates a high-strength steel safety cage, with high-tensile steel comprising 78% of the monocoque.

Advanced active safety is catered for by standard Level 2 ADAS driver assistance across the 2026 range. This bundles Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with full-speed Stop & Go, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB with pedestrian and cyclist detection), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), and Integrated Cruise Assist (ICA). Higher-spec 2.0T variants tack on Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), and Rear Collision Warning (RCW). For 2026, the inclusion of a rear-view camera washer and wing mirror puddle lamps with logo projection adds another layer of daily convenience and safety.

Market Performance and Reception

Since its inception in 2019, the EXEED marque has faced stiff competition in the domestic market. Industry data shows that in the first 10 months of 2025, EXEED posted cumulative deliveries of around 97,400 units, accounting for less than 4.3% of Chery Group's total sales volume—trailing noticeably behind mainstream Chery's 1.378 million units and Jetour's 519,000 units. Monthly brand volume once slipped to a low of 2,713 units amidst broader lineup headwinds.

Nonetheless, the EXEED Lanyue has garnered positive industry reception on its merits as a flagship offering. Priced between RM187,900 and RM209,900, the 2026 400T series comfortably undercuts joint-venture staples like the Toyota Highlander and Volkswagen Teramont (which start upwards of RM250,000), whilst packing standard mechanical hardware including the 261 PS 2.0T mill and 8AT gearbox. With its vast cabin space, solid outputs, and generous tech suite, the Lanyue remains a compelling value proposition among homegrown Chinese D-segment SUVs.

As of May 2026, the EXEED VX has fully transitioned to the "EXEED Lanyue" nameplate, which will spearhead all future marketing activities.
