Model Overview

The Wuling Darion EV is an all-electric seven-seater MPV developed by SAIC-GM-Wuling for international markets. Making its global debut at PIK2 in Tangerang, Indonesia on 5 November 2025, it stands as the first MPV in the Indonesian market to offer both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) powertrains.
Known as the Wuling Starlight 730 in mainland China, the model is currently earmarked for overseas markets such as Indonesia and Hong Kong. As a cornerstone of Wuling’s global expansion strategy, the Darion is locally assembled at the Wuling Motors plant in Cikarang, West Java, Indonesia. In terms of dimensions, the Darion EV measures 4,910 mm in length, 1,870 mm in width, and 1,770 mm in height, riding on a 2,910 mm wheelbase with a 2+2+3 seven-seater layout. In Indonesia, the Darion EV is offered in CE and EX variants, while in Hong Kong, it carries an early-bird "One-for-One" replacement price of RM258,800.
Design Language
The Darion EV showcases Wuling’s Elegant Streamline design language. Up front, it features X-shaped front and rear lighting signatures, paired with a diamond-cut grille on the PHEV variant to deliver a sleek, contemporary aesthetic. Along the sides, hidden sliding door rails ensure a cleaner, more flush profile. The MPV rides on 17-inch machined alloy wheels wrapped in 215/55 R17 tyres, with four exterior colour choices available: Haze Grey, Frosty White, Starry Black, and Orchid Purple .
Inside, the cabin features a sophisticated two-tone Walnut Brown & Carbon Black theme upholstered in soft-touch faux leather, delivering an upscale, welcoming ambiance. The centre stack retains ample physical switchgear for intuitive, fuss-free operation. A centre walkthrough aisle between the front seats allows seamless movement between rows. Rear occupants enjoy generous headroom exceeding 1,200 mm for an airy atmosphere, while the second-row seats recline a full 180° into a flat lounge configuration.
Powertrain & Performance
Underpinned by Wuling’s latest electrification tech, the Darion EV features a front-mounted single electric motor driving the front wheels. The powertrain delivers a maximum output of 150 kW (approximately 201–204 PS) and 310 Nm of torque.
Juice is supplied by a 69.2 kWh MAGIC Battery Pro lithium iron phosphate (LFP) pack, delivering up to 540 km of range (CLTC). It supports DC fast charging, taking just 30 minutes to replenish from 30% to 80%. For comparison, the Darion PHEV pairs a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated Atkinson-cycle engine with an electric motor and a 20.5 kWh battery pack, offering a pure electric range of 125 km (CLTC).
Chassis & Handling
The Darion EV is built on Wuling’s global modular platform, the Wonder Flexible Modular System (WFMS). Underneath, it boasts an independent suspension setup comprising front MacPherson struts and a rear multi-link setup—a premium arrangement in the MPV segment that markedly enhances ride comfort. Braking duties are handled by all-round disc brakes, complemented by an Electric Power Steering (EPS) system for light and accurate steering response.
Cabin & Equipment
The dashboard is anchored by a 12.8-inch central touchscreen infotainment display and an 8.8-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Powered by the LING OS intelligent connectivity system, it supports smartphone integration and voice commands. In-car audio is provided by a six-speaker sound system. For convenience, the Darion EV is equipped with dual power sliding doors and a smart powered tailgate offering four opening methods (central display, smart key, voice command, and tailgate switch). The second row features ventilated individual power captain seats , while the front gets a wireless smartphone charging pad. Also standard is an electric sunroof operable via the touchscreen, voice command, or roof-mounted controls. In terms of cargo capability, the third-row seats fold flat for versatile boot storage.
Safety & Driver Assistance
On the passive safety front, the Darion EV adopts a High-Strength Steel Cage Body structure, accompanied by six airbags and ISOFIX child seat anchors across the range. Active safety kit includes ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), Auto Vehicle Hold (AVH), and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
For intelligent driving, the Darion EV comes equipped with a Level 2 ADAS suite featuring key driver assists such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), and Lane Keeping Assist (LKA). A 360-degree surround-view camera is also on board to take the stress out of tight parking spaces and narrow alleyways.
Market Performance & Reception
Since making its premiere at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) in July 2025, the Wuling Darion has completed regional launches across key Indonesian cities, including Jakarta, Medan, Semarang, Surabaya, and Bali. In Indonesia, the Darion EV CE is priced from approximately RM399,000,000 (OTR), while the EV EX goes for around RM459,000,000 (OTR). Over in Hong Kong, the Darion EV carries an early-bird "One-for-One" price tag of just RM258,800. Motoring media praised the model for its "unbeatable price advantage", quickly capturing buyer attention with its four hallmark strengths: generous cabin space, long-distance range, generous equipment levels, and strong value for money. Deliveries of the initial batch in Hong Kong commenced in April 2026, followed by an official handover ceremony in May 2026.
Within its class, the Darion EV stands out with its spacious seven-seater layout courtesy of a long 2,910 mm wheelbase, a 540 km CLTC range, segment-convenient dual power sliding doors, a powered tailgate, and an ultra-competitive pricing strategy. As a pivotal model in Wuling's globalisation roadmap, the Darion EV leverages its comprehensive product capability and outstanding value-for-money to carve out a compelling niche in the overseas electric MPV market.
