Forthing – a sub-brand of Dongfeng Motor Group – will introduce its first right-hand-drive model, the Friday REEV (known as Fengxing Leiting in China), to Malaysia. The plug-in range extender vehicle is expected to be priced at RM130,000 and will enter the local market through an official local distributor.
In terms of exterior design, the new model features a closed front grille and split-type headlight assemblies. The upper LED daytime running lights adopt a sleek, narrow shape, while the lower high and low beam lights are integrated with the ventilation panels on both sides of the front bumper, forming a unified look.
The interior is equipped with a 10.25-inch dual-screen setup, a large panoramic sunroof, and a high-quality electric sunshade. For power, the vehicle is driven by an electric motor with a maximum output of 163 horsepower and a peak torque of 240N·m. It comes with a 49.27kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, offering a comprehensive CLTC cruising range of 410km.
Notably, the Malaysia-bound Forthing Friday (including both BEV and REEV variants) has recently achieved a 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating under the 2021-2025 crash test protocol, enhancing its competitiveness in the local electrified SUV segment. The model is also planned to be locally assembled via semi-knocked-down (SKD) kits in the future, which is expected to optimize pricing and after-sales support.
