Could Proton eMas models eventually join PDRM’s patrol fleet? PRO-NET has handed over three electrified vehicles to the Royal Malaysia Police for an evaluation of their suitability for its operational requirements.
The handover took place at Bukit Aman on 10 September 2026, with Proton deputy chief executive officer Dato’ Ir. Abdul Rashid Musa presenting the vehicles to PDRM’s Logistics and Technology Department director, CP Datuk Redzuan Abd Hamid.
The three vehicles are:
With two fully electric models and a plug-in hybrid, the evaluation gives PDRM an opportunity to assess different electrified powertrains under real-world conditions.

The evaluation will cover drivability, practicality and charging requirements, allowing officers to determine how each model fits their daily duties.
Gentari will provide complimentary charging for all three vehicles throughout the evaluation period.
According to Abdul Rashid, the programme allows PDRM to experience the vehicles beyond a conventional test drive, while helping Proton understand the requirements of a large operational fleet.
He added that a transition to electrified vehicles involves more than the cars themselves, with daily usage patterns, performance and charging access all requiring consideration.

Feedback gathered during the evaluation will help PDRM assess whether EVs and PHEVs are suitable for its future fleet requirements.
PRO-NET says the vehicles could potentially support routine duties, including crime-prevention patrols. However, any deployment would depend on the evaluation results and subsequent government consideration.
For now, the handover is for assessment purposes, with no confirmed fleet purchase or operational rollout announced.
