Proton's electric vehicle (EV) arm, PROTON New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (PRO-NET), has partnered with three major charging point operators (CPOs) – DC Handal, JomCharge and chargEV – to roll out Proton eMas-branded charging stations nationwide.
The partnerships will see PRO-NET work with the three CPOs on branding and marketing initiatives at selected charging facilities, while supporting the expansion of EV charging infrastructure and improving the charging experience for Proton eMas owners.

The rollout is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026, starting at a popular destination before expanding to other locations nationwide.
The eMas-branded charging stations will primarily be located at strategic, high-traffic public destinations, with Proton eMas owners able to enjoy discounted charging rates when they make payments through the Proton eMas app at participating locations.
PRO-NET said the initiative forms part of its efforts to expand the Proton eMas charging ecosystem as EV adoption continues to grow in Malaysia.
According to the company, more than 4,700 charging points covering over 90% of Malaysia are currently accessible through the Proton eMas app. The app is also integrated with the Live Charging Map available in eMas vehicles, allowing drivers to locate charging facilities.

The partnerships will also see PRO-NET work with the participating CPOs to support the expansion of their charging infrastructure, while creating a more recognisable Proton eMas presence at selected charging locations.
PRO-NET said the initiative also supports the government's localisation agenda by creating opportunities for Malaysian vendors and industry players to participate in the development of the country's EV ecosystem.

“As more Malaysians make the transition to electric mobility, convenient and accessible charging will become an increasingly important part of the ownership experience.

“Through our collaboration with leading CPOs, we want to make charging more rewarding for eMas owners and give them greater access to charging at key locations. This partnership brings together the strengths of PRO-NET, our charging partners and the eMas digital ecosystem to support our customers as EV adoption continues to grow in Malaysia,” said PRO-NET CEO Zhang Qiang.

PRO-NET Head of Charging Ahmad Munif Halim added that integrating charging access with the Proton eMas app would make the charging experience more convenient for owners.
“The integration of charging access with the Proton eMas app gives us an opportunity to make the charging experience simpler and more rewarding for eMas owners.

“By working with established CPOs, we can make charging more convenient while giving customers access to existing support capabilities when assistance is needed. Together, these elements help us create a better charging experience for eMas owners,” he said.
PRO-NET said the exact charging rates and arrangements will be determined through mutual agreements with the respective CPOs.
The company will also continue working with charging operators and local industry players to expand access to EV charging facilities across Malaysia as the Proton eMas range continues to grow.
