Suzuki Jimny Buyer's Guide: Save RM15,000 with AllGrip Plus or go full Rhino?

On 5 June 2026, Naza Eastern Motors launched the updated Jimny AllGrip Plus alongside the new Jimny Rhino Plus in Malaysia, priced at RM158,900 and RM173,900 on-the-road without insurance respectively — reflecting a price gap of RM15,000.

Official specifications confirm that the AllGrip Plus retains its pre-facelift pricing despite receiving substantial upgrades in safety and tech equipment.

Mechanically, both variants are completely identical. The 1.5L K15B naturally aspirated petrol engine delivers an official local output of 100 hp and 130 Nm, paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and an AllGrip Pro part-time 4WD system with selectable 2H, 4H, and 4L modes.

Underpinnings comprise a ladder-frame chassis with front and rear three-link rigid axles, riding on 195/80R15 tyres with 210 mm of ground clearance. As such, the RM15,000 price premium brings no alterations to engine performance, 4WD hardware, approach/departure angles, or ride height.

The 2026 Updates

Prior to this update, the Malaysian-spec Jimny offered just two airbags and virtually no active safety features.

For 2026, both variants rectify these shortcomings: front side airbags and full-length curtain airbags bring the total airbag count to six, while the ADAS suite now introduces Dual Sensor Brake Support II, Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Weaving Alert, High Beam Assist, and Emergency Stop Signal.

Adaptive Cruise Control makes its debut here, joined by front and rear parking sensors with clearance sonar, as well as a reverse camera integrated with millimetre-wave radar. Inside, it gains a nine-inch infotainment touchscreen, alongside power-folding heated side mirrors. However, the distributor has not clarified whether the Adaptive Cruise Control supports full-speed Stop & Go functionality.

For a fully imported compact 4x4 long chided for spartan safety kit, these enhancements significantly improve its day-to-day usability.

What the RM15,000 Premium Buys

Over the AllGrip Plus, the Rhino Plus adds: 15-inch polished alloy wheels (versus gunmetal grey alloys on the AllGrip Plus), a spare wheel cover with the signature Rhino emblem, an exclusive front grille design, front bumper and side skirt underguards, door visors, and red front and rear mud flaps.

Among these, the underguards help shield the undercarriage from gravel and light scrapes during mild off-roading, while the door visors and mud flaps provide practical benefits; the remaining add-ons are purely cosmetic differentiators.

Colour choices also differ: the AllGrip Plus is available in six exterior shades, whereas the Rhino Plus is restricted to just three — Pure White Pearl, Kinetic Yellow, and Chiffon Ivory.

A Special Model

Its three-door, four-seater configuration dictates its real-world packaging. Rear legroom and seating posture are strictly for occasional use, with boot capacity rated at a modest 85 litres with all four seats up.

With 100 hp routed through a four-speed automatic, overtaking at highway speeds requires planning, while the ladder-frame chassis and live axles deliver a utilitarian ride with noticeable NVH on tarmac — all of which are inherent traits of the Jimny.

In terms of aftersales network coverage, Suzuki currently operates 14 showrooms and 13 service centres nationwide. While this is less extensive than the networks of our two national carmakers, it represents a brand-wide consideration rather than a variant-specific trade-off.

Warranty and Running Costs

At launch, the standard warranty was stated as three years or 100,000 km. However, on 26 June 2026, Naza Eastern Motors revised this by enrolling both the Jimny AllGrip Plus and Rhino Plus into its five-year, unlimited-mileage manufacturer warranty programme.

Annual road tax for a 1,462 cc non-saloon under private individual registration in Peninsular Malaysia sits at RM120, subject to the official assessment on the JPJ receipt.

Which Variant Should You Buy?

If you prioritise the Jimny's mechanical purity and rugged off-road hardware, want the six airbags, full driver assistance suite, and nine-inch touchscreen, but care little for bespoke styling bits, the AllGrip Plus represents the complete 2026-spec package. The RM15,000 saved can be better channeled into all-terrain tyres, aftermarket mods, or insurance.

Conversely, if you specifically want the nostalgic aesthetic defined by the polished alloys, bespoke grille, and Rhino spare tyre cover, and are comfortable that the extra outlay primarily pays for cosmetics and minor protective trim, the Rhino Plus is the one to go for. Its off-road capability, drivetrain, and safety tech remain identical to the AllGrip Plus.
