Xiaomi Auto is coming to Europe: First German dealer partnerships pave the way for 2027 launch

Xiaomi Auto is preparing for its European debut in 2027, with Germany set to become one of its first key markets.

At the IFA Berlin 2026, Xiaomi signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with eight leading German automotive dealer groups, marking the first step in building its European sales and after-sales network.

Since launching its first EV, Xiaomi has gained strong momentum in China, with cumulative deliveries now surpassing 700,000 units. Riding on that success, the company plans to bring its technology-focused electric vehicles and smart mobility ecosystem to Europe from 2027.

Germany was chosen as one of Xiaomi Auto's first European markets due to its position as one of the world's most established automotive industries.

The country is home to some of Europe's largest and most experienced dealer groups, making it a natural starting point for Xiaomi as it builds a local retail and service network.

The partnerships signed at IFA Berlin 2026 will help Xiaomi establish sales channels and after-sales support ahead of its market launch.

The company said it will continue looking for more European partners as it prepares for expansion across the region.

The dealer signing ceremony took place at Xiaomi's booth during the media days of IFA Berlin.

Beyond its automotive plans, Xiaomi also showcased its latest technology products and its "Human × Car × Home" smart ecosystem, including the eye-catching Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo concept.

Earlier in August, Xiaomi Auto also launched its global website and overseas social media channels, building awareness ahead of its European expansion.

When will Xiaomi come to Malaysia?

With Xiaomi accelerating its overseas expansion, attention has also turned to whether its vehicles could eventually reach Malaysia.

Recent developments suggest Xiaomi is already preparing the groundwork. Xiaomi Technology has reportedly begun recruiting automotive-related positions in Malaysia.

A LinkedIn listing for a Government Relations Manager (Automotive) role showed that Xiaomi is looking for someone to work with local agencies including the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) and JPJ.

The job listing also mentioned experience with both CBU (completely built-up) imports and CKD (completely knocked down) local assembly operations, suggesting Xiaomi is studying different entry strategies for the Malaysian market.

For reference, Xiaomi Auto's current line-up consists of the SU7 electric sedan, the YU7 electric SUV and the upcoming SkyNomad EREV SUVs.

The SU7 is priced between RMB 219,900 and RMB 629,900 (around RM 132k to RM 380k) in China, while the YU7 is priced from RMB 233,500 to RMB 389,900 (around RM 141k to RM 235k).
