With the arrival of September, the August sales reports from various automakers have been gradually released. Great Wall Motor also announced the latest production and sales data on schedule on September 1st. It sold 113,396 new cars in a single month. Against the backdrop of the traditional car market off-season in August, the overall performance showed steady improvement. More notably, there is continuous optimization of the sales structure: sales of new energy vehicles grew by 8.55% year-on-year, while overseas market sales surged by 38.42% year-on-year. The two growth engines worked in tandem, with growth rates both outpacing the industry average. From January to August 2026, Great Wall Motor's cumulative new car sales reached 805,358 units, an increase of 1.98% year-on-year. As of now, global cumulative sales have officially broken the 17 million unit mark, ushering in another important milestone for brand development.

Looking at brands, Haval remains the sales baseline. In August, it sold 64,960 new cars, a significant month-over-month increase of 15.44%, serving as the core force driving the overall sales rebound. This wave of growth is directly related to the launch of new products. Early in August, the Haval H10 officially launched. Relying on its spacious interior, high configuration, and affordable pricing, it quickly opened the market. Large pre-orders exceeded 30,000 units within 24 hours of launch. Terminal store orders clearly began to climb, directly driving the month-over-month growth of the Haval brand. Besides the stable performance in the domestic market, Haval's overseas sales ratio continues to rise. In core markets such as Russia, ASEAN, and Latin America, Haval SUVs have become the first choice for many families due to their reliable quality and affordable pricing. The multi-point layout in the global market has also given Haval a risk resistance ability far higher than brands relying solely on the domestic market.

The Tank brand sold 17,737 new cars in August, a 2.95% month-over-month increase. Among them, the brand-new redesigned Tank 300 achieved single-month sales of 10,512 units, contributing more than 60% of the brand's sales, once again confirming the market appeal of this national hardcore off-road vehicle. Since its introduction in 2020, Tank 300 has transformed what was originally a niche hardcore off-road sector into a mass consumption market. As of now, the global cumulative user count of the Tank 300 series has approached 600,000. The brand-new replacement model, based on retaining hardcore off-road configurations such as body-on-frame construction and three locking differentials, has optimized interior texture, the smart cockpit, and urban driving comfort. It achieves both off-roading and daily commuting, accurately hitting the car usage demands of young users who balance hobbies with daily needs. At the same time, the Tank brand's overseas expansion pace has been extremely fast. In markets like the Middle East, Australia, and Russia that prefer hardcore models, there are almost no direct competitors. The premium pricing ability is also better than in the domestic market, making it a representative business card for Great Wall's high-end global expansion.

The Wey brand sold 7,367 new cars in August. As of now, global cumulative sales have reached 757,000 units. As Great Wall's high-end new energy brand, Wey experienced early positioning adjustments and finally anchored its efforts on the family high-end new energy market. In mid-August, the Wey V8X officially launched, further filling the product gap in five-seat flagship SUVs. The models built on the Guanyuan S platform have obvious upgrades in chassis, intelligence, and power. From the Lanshan SUV to the Gaoshan MPV to the V8X, Wey focuses on spacious interiors, long range, and full-scenario family use. Relying on the all-terrain adaptability of Hi4 hybrid technology and delicate luxury texture, it has gained recognition from a large number of upgrade and repurchase users. Many consumers switching from joint venture medium SUVs and MPVs include Wey in their core candidate list, and it also bears the heavy responsibility of breakthroughs for the Great Wall brand in upward pricing.

In the August data, the growth highlight is clearly the ORA brand. It sold 11,018 new cars in a single month, a year-on-year surge of 110.95%, achieving double-digit sales growth. ORA experienced a period of product and positioning adjustment in the past two years, with its rhythm slowing down. However, since this year it has clearly returned to an upward track. The brand has gradually expanded from the "Made for Women" positioning to "Young Urban Life Enthusiast". On the product end, the Good Cat series completed model upgrades, with prices dropping to a more affordable range, accurately positioning itself in the 100,000-level boutique pure electric small car market. At the same time, relying on the Guanyuan platform to achieve multi-power layout, it adapts to the needs of different global markets. In the pure electric small car lane where homogenization is serious, ORA focuses on delicate retro styling and delicate user experience, forming off-position competition with competitors focusing on cost-performance. This wave of sales doubling also marks that ORA's transformation adjustments have shown results, and it has returned to the competition sequence of mainstream pure electric small cars.

As a traditional advantage sector of Great Wall, Great Wall Pickup sold 12,288 new cars in August. Among them, overseas sales were 6,518 units, accounting for more than half, serving as the core support for export business. Having deep-plowed the pickup market for many years, Great Wall has formed a product matrix covering commercial and passenger full scenarios. The Wingle series focuses on tool attributes, while the Poer series focuses on passenger experience, accumulating extremely good reputations both domestically and overseas. In many overseas developing markets, Great Wall Pickup is synonymous with durability and high cost-performance, with market share ranking at the forefront for years. With the gradual ramp-up of overseas local production capacity, the cost advantage and delivery efficiency of pickup products will further improve. It will still be one of the baselines for Great Wall's global expansion in the future.

Overall, Great Wall's current growth logic is very clear: While stabilizing the fuel baseline in the domestic market, it steadily promotes new energy transformation; Overseas markets continue high-speed expansion, and the ecosystem global expansion mode gradually fulfills results. The 8.55% year-on-year growth rate of new energy may not seem aggressive, but it wins through parallel multi-brand, multi-price, and multi-technology routes. From entry-level ORA small cars to family-use Haval plug-in hybrids to high-end Wey models, it covers the needs of different users. Hi4 hybrid technology is also gradually being downgraded to more car models, with stronger risk resistance capabilities. The 38.42% high growth rate of the overseas market opens up long-term growth space. Unlike many car companies that rely solely on exporting complete vehicles at low prices, Great Wall takes the full ecosystem global expansion route. Not only selling cars, but also outputting channels, services, production, and even technology together. It lays out local factories in core markets such as Russia, Thailand, and Brazil. This can not only avoid tariff barriers but also better adapt to local market demands.

The global cumulative sales of 17 million units are not simply a pile of numbers, but the result of decades of product reputation and technology accumulation. From the Baoding car company that started with pickups back in the day, to the continuous domestic SUV sales champion for many years, and now to the automotive group with a global layout, behind this lies the synergy of multi-brands such as Haval, Tank, Wey, ORA, and Pickup. It is also the continuous landing of core technologies such as the Guanyuan platform and Hi4 hybrid technology.

Looking forward to the second half of the year's Golden September and Silver October sales peak season, Great Wall brands still have many new products waiting to be launched. The product matrix will be further improved, and the competitiveness of the domestic market will also continue to strengthen. In terms of overseas markets, with more local factories entering production and the opening of emerging markets, the sales growth rate is likely to remain high. Although the competition in the domestic car market remains fierce and there is continued pressure from price wars, the strategy of walking on multiple legs has allowed Great Wall to show stronger market resilience. 17 million units is just a new starting point. Whether it can continue to speed up in the future in new energy transformation and global layout remains worth following up on.
