The Geely Xingyuan - the twin to the Proton eMas 5 in Malaysia - has been updated in China. It's a comprehensive one this time around, with the headline news being improved range across the board.

With six variants, the cars now have a range starting from 310 km to 480 km (CLTC), which translates to approximately 300 km to 400 km on the WLTP cycle. This is quite an improvement from the eMas 5 we currently have, which has 225 km - 330 km WLTP.
The range increase comes from larger CATL batteries, now outputing 35 kWh and 47.14 kWh. Previously, these cars came with 30 kWH and 40.1 kWh batteries.
Power outputs have not been changed, so these cars still maintain their rear-wheel drive, single-motor setup that produces 58 kW and 130 Nm of torque, while more powerful variants get 85 kW and 150 Nm.

The updates continue with the interior now gaining a column shifter, similar to what the Proton X50 has. Beyond that and some placements of buttons redesigned, there are two new colour options too - Taro White and Starry Gray.

Elsewhere, the Galaxy Flyme Auto 2.0 intelligent cockpit system paired to an 8-core CPU remains unchanged, with most of the car's controls and vitals accessible via the 8.8-inch digital driver's display and 14.6-inch infotainment screen.

The car's general look remains as we know it, with LED headlights and full-LED tail lights - the latter having 78 individual diodes for clearer indication. It also gets a set of new 16-inch wheels.

While still yet to be announced formally, the writing is on the wall that our Proton eMas 5 - currently CBU from China - could be on its way for local assembly (CKD). There's precedence to this, as the Proton eMas 7 was CBU during its local debut, before entering local production earlier this year.
To recap, prices for the eMas 5 starts at RM 56,800 for the Prime, and RM 69,800 for the Premium, on-the-road without insurance.
