Malaysia’s sporty sedan may be getting a dose of steroids, as spyshots of what could be an even hotter variant of the Proton S70 have emerged.
Courtesy of Threads user zichiazizi, we now have a very early look at what could be an even sportier version of the Proton S70.
Despite the copious amount of camouflage, we can see that the front fascia has been revamped with what appears to be honeycomb inserts on the edges, as well as sharper-looking bumper profile. Bits that are covered by camouflage material, including the side mirrors, side skirts, window sills, door handles, and rear end suggest that Proton is giving its C-segment sedan quite the visual upgrade.

Additionally, it looks like this sporty S70 could be taking a leaf out of the Proton X50’s playbook by offering red brake calipers, both at the front and the rear. The camo also covers the new five-spoke wheels.

While the exterior may be overhauled, we reckon the powertrain should remain unchanged – the new turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder BHE15 petrol engine is likely going to soldier on, producing 181 PS and 290 Nm. This engine is paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT) that sends power to the front wheels.
The updated Proton S70 won’t be the only updated model from them, as spyshots of the AMA02-based Proton Saga Cross are everywhere too, suggesting that development work is well underway, with the launch slated to take place later this year.
