We've been taking an early look around the 2026 Chengdu Motor Show ahead of its opening, and one of the cars that caught our eye is the Mazda EZ-60 Laser Edition.
As the name suggests, the new version gets LiDAR, which brings a more advanced set of driver-assistance hardware to Mazda's latest SUV.

The EZ-60 Laser Edition retains the model's existing design, including Mazda's enclosed "Wings of Light" front end, full-width LED lighting and an illuminated Mazda badge.

The sleek body profile is largely unchanged, with flush door handles and the option of electronic exterior mirrors adding to the car's streamlined appearance.
The SUV measures 4,850 mm long, 1,935 mm wide and 1,620 mm tall, with a 2,902 mm wheelbase.

Inside, the EZ-60 continues with Mazda's "Flying Wing Floating Cockpit" design. The centrepiece is a 26.45-inch 5K integrated floating display, powered by a 4nm chip.
A 50-inch AR-HUD is also available, projecting driving information into the driver's line of sight without requiring them to look down at the central display.
The EZ-60 Laser Edition also comes with "Cloud-like Zero-Gravity Seats".
The Laser Edition gets its name from the LiDAR sensor added to its driver-assistance system. That extra hardware brings several changes to the EZ-60's assisted-driving functions.

City NOA is now part of the package, allowing the system to operate on urban roads as well as motorways. It can handle traffic following, lane changes and route planning in the city.
The automated parking system has also been upgraded, with the ability to tackle tighter spaces, angled parking and narrow underground car parks.
The updated sensing system is also designed to recognise pedestrians, motorcycles and other vehicles more accurately, giving the EZ-60 a broader range of active-safety functions in busy traffic.
The Mazda EZ-60 Laser Edition is also offered with two powertrain options.
The range-extender version uses a 1.5-litre range-extender engine, with the drive motor producing up to 190 kW.
The pure-electric version offers a CLTC range of up to 600 km.
The 2026 Chengdu Motor Show opens on 21 August, so we won't have long to wait for more details on the EZ-60 Laser Edition.
With its new LiDAR hardware and upgraded driver-assistance functions, it is certainly one to watch for Mazda fans who also want a more tech-focused driving experience.
