The Xpeng L03 has been spotted in Malaysia, with Reddit user u/reuster93 sharing a sighting of the SUV. Could this be another electric SUV heading to our market to challenge the Proton eMas 7 and BYD Atto 3?
Nothing has been confirmed by Xpeng Malaysia just yet, although the L03 has already made appearances in Indonesia and Thailand. Meanwhile, Australian pricing and specifications have been revealed ahead of its launch there, giving us an idea of what to expect.

In Australia, the Xpeng L03 is available in four variants, including three fully electric models and a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV).
Prices are as follows:
The entry-level RWD Standard Range gets a 58.3-kWh LFP battery, offering 445 km of WLTP range. Its rear-mounted motor produces 222 PS and 280 Nm, while charging is supported at up to 11 kW AC and 193 kW DC.

Moving up to the RWD Long Range brings a larger 71.2-kWh battery, increasing driving range to 520 km WLTP. Power also rises to 249 PS, with 280 Nm of torque, while DC fast charging increases to 236 kW.
At the top of the range is the AWD Performance Ultra, which adds a front electric motor for a combined output of 387 PS and 431 Nm. Driving range is slightly lower at 440 km.
Interestingly, Xpeng is also offering the L03 as a range-extended EV.

The PowerX RWD Long Range uses a 245 PS rear electric motor, paired with a 37.2-kWh LFP battery and a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that acts as a generator.
It can travel up to 215 km on electricity alone, while the combined driving range is rated at 1,017 km. Charging speeds are lower than the fully electric versions, at 6.6 kW AC and 123 kW DC.
As for equipment, even the base L03 is fairly generously equipped. Standard features include:

The range-topping AWD Performance Ultra adds 20-inch wheels, an 18-speaker audio system with active noise cancellation, massaging front seats and additional driver assistance features.
It also receives three Turing AI chips to support Xpeng's Navigation Guided Pilot (XNGP) system, which is scheduled to become available in Australia in 2027.
In terms of positioning, the L03 competes directly with the Geely EX5 (sold here as the Proton eMas 7) and BYD Atto 3 Evo. Both start from AUD41,990 (approximately RM122,000) in Australia, putting them almost level with the Xpeng.

Of course, Australian prices aren't necessarily an indication of what the L03 would cost here.
Still, with the SUV already previewed in neighbouring markets and now spotted in Malaysia, a local introduction certainly looks possible.
For now, we'll have to wait for an official announcement from Xpeng Malaysia.
