On 23 June 2026, Chery Malaysia officially launched its all-new flagship SUV, the Tiggo 9, at Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad in Kuala Lumpur. Positioned at the top of Chery's current lineup, it also marks the brand's first luxury flagship SUV, offering D-segment dimensions at a C-segment price point.
In Malaysia, the Tiggo 9 is offered in a single powertrain variant: a 2.0T AWD 7-seater SUV. Two early bird packages are available:

The initial batch of vehicles arrives fully imported (CBU) from China, with local assembly (CKD) to follow subsequently. Exterior colour options include Carbon Black Metallic and Matte Grey.
The RM13,000 price premium bags you an RM5,000 cash rebate, RM3,000 in fuel subsidy, and one year of complimentary insurance. Factor these perks in, and the effective out-of-pocket cost for the Prime package is narrowed down considerably.
The Tiggo 9 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine pushing out 256 PS (251 hp) and 390 Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission and an intelligent all-wheel drive system.
The official 0-100 km/h acceleration figure is rated at 8.0 seconds, though independent media tests clocked it at around 9.3 seconds. Top speed is 210 km/h, with a claimed combined fuel consumption of 8.3 L/100 km.
Body dimensions: length 4,810 mm, width 1,925 mm, height 1,741 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. Kerb weight stands at 1,887 kg, accompanied by a 65-litre fuel tank and a ground clearance of 205 mm.
For comparison, the Tiggo 9 is 15 mm longer than the Jaecoo J8 (4,795 mm). Its 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels shod with 245/50R20 tyres are currently the largest fitted on any Chery model in Malaysia.
The Tiggo 9 features a 2+3+2 7-seater layout. The second-row seats come with a 60:40 split-fold, while the third row folds 50:50.
Luggage capacity starts at 143 litres with all seven seats up, expands to 448 litres with the third row folded down, and maxes out at 2,065 litres with both rear rows laid flat.

If you need a D-segment SUV capable of moving the whole family in comfort, want 256 PS of punch, a 15.6-inch screen, ventilated massage seats, 10 airbags, and 23 ADAS functions, and are not fussed about second-hand badge residual values, the Tiggo 9 stands out as one of the most comprehensively equipped contenders in its class.
On the other hand, if Japanese brand reputation and long-term resale value remain non-negotiable, or if you do not strictly require seven seats, the similarly priced Mazda CX-8 (from RM165,360) presents an alternative route.
