In the automotive world, few nameplates have endured for half a century with such consistent success. The Honda Accord is undoubtedly one of them. Now, this iconic Japanese D-segment sedan officially celebrates its 50th anniversary since its debut.
Since the first-generation model launched in 1976, the Accord has accompanied car enthusiasts around the world through five decades. To mark this historic milestone, Honda has announced a special exhibition at the Honda Collection Hall in Mobility Resort Motegi, along with a series of exclusive 50th-anniversary merchandise.

The name "Accord" symbolises harmony — between people, cars, and society. Since its introduction in 1976, the Accord quickly expanded globally. In 1982, it became the first Japanese brand to be locally produced in the United States, cementing its strong position in the North American market.
Over the past 50 years, the Accord has earned numerous prestigious awards:
From the pioneering CVCC low-emission engine in its first generation to the world's first in-car navigation system and today's advanced Honda SENSING 360+ safety suite, the Accord has consistently served as Honda's technological proving ground.
To date, the Accord has sold over 25 million units across more than 160 countries and regions, solidifying its status as a true evergreen in the global automotive industry.

For Malaysians, the Accord holds special sentimental value. From the 1990s to the early 2010s, it was widely regarded as a symbol of success and achievement. Generations of the Accord — particularly the sporty 4th generation (SM4), the elegant 7th generation, and the widely praised "most beautiful" 8th generation (TA) — were once common sights on Malaysian roads.
Although Honda Malaysia discontinued the 11th-generation Accord due to the SUV boom (it is now only available through grey importers), the model remains highly sought-after in the local used car market, still praised for its space, handling, and legendary durability.
Honda is commemorating the milestone with several special activities:

Over five decades, the Accord has evolved from a compact hatchback into a refined flagship sedan. While new Accord models may no longer be officially available in Malaysia, its legacy in automotive history remains untouchable.
