Following the global hype generated by the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra at the Nürburgring, Xiaomi Auto is back with another record-breaking performance!
On May 19, Xiaomi officially announced that its new high-performance electric SUV, the YU7 GT, has set a new lap record on the Nürburgring Nordschleife with an astonishing time of 7 minutes 34.931 seconds. This makes it the fastest production SUV ever around the legendary "Green Hell" circuit.

The record was set by Ren Zhoucan, Xiaomi Auto's chief test driver and head of vehicle dynamics, making him the first Chinese driver to officially claim a Nürburgring production car lap record. The previous record holder, the Audi RS Q8 Performance, was beaten by approximately 1.8 seconds.
The YU7 GT is scheduled to be officially launched in China on May 21.

Unlike the triple-motor setup on the SU7 Ultra, the YU7 GT uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration:
The vehicle is equipped with a ternary lithium battery pack from CATL. Under CLTC testing, it achieves a pure electric range of up to 705 km. In more realistic WLTP conditions, the range is expected to be around 580 km.

In terms of exterior design, the Xiaomi YU7 GT continues the family's elongated front end and wide-body, low-drag lines, with the overall silhouette even giving a sense of a Ferrari Purosangue. To highlight its "pure GT" identity, the new car has undergone extensive "blacked-out" and aerodynamic upgrades based on the standard YU7:

Front details: Retaining the highly recognizable, iconic "waterdrop headlights" (featuring a hollowed-out guide design inside), and replaced with a more aggressive front splitter.

Extensive aerodynamic elements: 10 sets of air ducts and 19 air vents across the body. The side is equipped with frameless exterior rearview mirrors and electric inward-flipping flush door handles.

Rear styling: Continuing the SU7's classic "halo taillights" and small ducktail design, but a highly exaggerated large-sized rear diffuser with vertical blades is added below, along with an exclusive GT badge.

Body dimensions: Compared to the standard version, the GT version stretches its length to 5,015 mm and width to 2,007 mm to accommodate wider wheel sets, while the wheelbase remains at 3,000 mm.
To cope with such massive power, the new car's hardware configuration is also at the top tier. It rides on 21-inch Y-shaped lightweight alloy wheels, paired with 265/40 R21 high-performance tires at the front and 295/35 R21 at the rear; the braking system is replaced with Japanese Akebono front six-piston and rear four-piston carbon ceramic brake calipers (Carbon Ceramic Brakes), and officials revealed that the record-setting vehicle was additionally equipped with an exclusive Track Package.

Although the display car is currently still not open for interior experience in the showroom, according to the information released officially, the cabin of the YU7 GT is full of racing spirit while maintaining a high sense of technology:
The center console is still dominated by a 16.1-inch ultra-large high-definition touchscreen, and is equipped with a span-type projection display and a carbon fibre steering wheel full of racetrack style.
The seats throughout the car are upgraded to sports bucket seats with stronger wrapping, the entire interior lining is covered with red and black dual-color Alcantara suede material, and a large amount of exclusive GT embroidery is integrated into the details.
Xiaomi positions the YU7 GT as a flagship model that balances long-distance comfort with ultimate driving performance. Chinese media predicts a price range between RMB 400,000 and RMB 500,000 (approximately RM 260,000 to RM 320,000).
With its record-breaking lap time and powerful specs, the YU7 GT is poised to become a serious contender in the high-performance electric SUV segment.
