On April 1, Mercedes-Benz released the official images of its flagship SUV—the next-generation Mercedes-Benz GLS. Often referred to as the "S-Class of SUVs", this mid-cycle refresh not only enhances its visual presence but also introduces the brand's self-developed MB.OS operating system, setting a new benchmark for intelligence in its segment.

The official images reveal that while maintaining its imposing silhouette, the new GLS adds more refined design elements.
Dual-Star Headlights: The headlamps feature a vertical "dual-star" layout, lending a more dignified and authoritative "gaze" to the front fascia.
Triple-Star Taillights: Sharing the same DNA as the current S-Class sedan, the taillights feature three embedded star motifs for high recognizability.
High-Tech Lighting: The GLS comes equipped with next-gen Digital Light (micro-LED technology), which is more energy-efficient and brighter, with a range of up to 600 meters. This ensures much-needed clarity when navigating unlit suburban backroads or tackling the unpredictable, misty winding routes up to Genting Highlands.

The interior is the highlight of this update, significantly boosting the digital atmosphere of the cabin.
Triple-Screen Linkage: A new single-piece integrated glass panel houses three 12.3-inch displays (instrument cluster, central infotainment, and passenger screen). This seamless execution oozes high-tech vibes and creates a panoramic cockpit experience.
MB.OS System: This is the first Benz to deeply integrate Mercedes' self-developed MB.OS architecture. It offers a smoother user experience and a "Zero Layer" interface, allowing the driver to access all key functions directly on the home screen without digging through frustrating sub-menus.
Passenger Privacy Mode: Utilizing "Dual View Optical Control" technology, the passenger screen appears completely black from the driver's perspective. This effectively prevents driver distraction while the front passenger enjoys movies or gaming.

As a full-sized SUV with a 3,135mm wheelbase, the GLS remains the benchmark for cabin volume.
Fully Electric 7-Seater: All three rows are electrically adjustable and now feature a new seat vibration massage function. The built-in motors provide deep muscle relaxation—perfect for long "Balik Kampung" trips.
AI Rear Seat Entertainment: Equipped with two 11.6-inch HD screens. The system uses cameras to "read" the passengers to identify age, gender, and even hand gestures. This allows the AI to intelligently recommend age-appropriate content or adjust cabin settings like climate and lighting based on who is sitting there.

The new GLS continues to offer Inline-6 and V8 engines, all paired with the 48V ISG (Integrated Starter Generator) system.
Enhanced Performance: The Inline-6 model's torque is increased to 560Nm, while the V8 variant pushes 395kW (approx. 537hp) and a peak torque of 750Nm.
Magic Chassis: Features AIRMATIC air suspension with "Road Surface Memory". The system scans the road ahead and pre-adjusts the damping of each wheel in milliseconds.
The release of the new GLS official images showcases Mercedes-Benz's ambition in the era of intelligence. While the local launch date and pricing for Malaysia have yet to be announced, this is a 7-seater luxury powerhouse worth waiting for if you want both prestige and cutting-edge tech.
