Civil Servants to WFH Starting April 15; Peninsula Diesel Price Hits RM6.02

In response to the global energy crisis triggered by Middle East tensions, the Malaysian government has announced that employees across ministries, agencies, statutory bodies, and Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) will transition to Work From Home (WFH) starting April 15, 2026.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim confirmed the directive during a special briefing, emphasizing that this is a proactive measure to significantly reduce national fuel consumption. While the specific frequency of WFH days per week is still being fine-tuned, the Prime Minister has urged the private sector to follow suit and adopt similar flexible arrangements where possible.

New Communication Command Centre 

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has officially announced the establishment of a "Communication Command Centre". Under the direct leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, the centre will host daily press briefings at 4:00 PM to update the public on the government's energy mitigation strategies.

Latest Fuel Prices: Diesel Up by 50 Sen 

The Ministry of Finance released the retail fuel prices for the week of April 2 to April 8:

Diesel (Peninsula): Increased by RM0.50 to RM6.02 per litre.

Diesel (East Malaysia): Remains at RM2.15 per litre.

RON97: Decreased by RM0.20 to RM4.95 per litre.

Unsubsidised RON95: Remains at RM3.87 per litre.

Note: Eligible recipients under the "BUDI MADANI" program will continue to receive the RM300 monthly cash subsidy. Official fuel price announcements are made every Wednesday at 6:00 PM.

Electricity Tariff Adjustment 

Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has announced a reduction in the ICPT rebate for April. While high-usage consumers may see an increase in their bills, approximately 85% of domestic users (those with bills below RM216) will remain unaffected.
