Chery Group has released its March 2026 sales report, further solidifying its leading position in overseas markets.
Total Group Sales: 240,678 units (+12.1% YoY)
Q1 Cumulative Sales: 601,712 units
Monthly Export Volume: Nearly 150,000 units (a new record high for any Chinese automotive brand)
New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Sales: 70,106 units

Chery's momentum in international markets remains formidable. With nearly 150,000 units exported in March, the group has now recorded monthly export volumes exceeding 100,000 units for 11 consecutive months. Chery's global user base has grown to 19.12 million, of which more than 6.23 million are overseas customers.
Notably, Chery has announced plans for a localized production project in South Africa, with production scheduled to commence in mid-2027. In Southeast Asia, including Thailand and Malaysia, the company continues to deepen supply chain integration and localization efforts.
While the official announcement focused on global figures, earlier reports show that Chery Malaysia reached a significant cumulative sales milestone of 30,000 units in early 2026. Driven by the strong performance of the Tiggo 7 Pro and the consistent sales of the Omoda 5 series, Malaysia has firmly established itself as one of Chery's most important Right-Hand Drive (RHD) markets worldwide.

In the new energy vehicle (NEV) segment, Chery recorded cumulative Q1 sales of 161,202 units. Beyond its strong performance in China, the Omoda E5 — a model already familiar to Malaysian consumers — has made a notable contribution to Chery's overseas sales. As Chery accelerates its expansion into 18 European countries, the pace of its global electrification is clearly gaining momentum.
Chery's current strategy is straightforward: Stabilize domestically and expand internationally. In Malaysia, the brand is not only selling vehicles but also actively strengthening its after-sales network and rolling out Raya seasonal promotions. This combination of "global bestsellers + local depth" is increasingly putting pressure on traditional brands. Would you consider buying this Chinese "Export Champion"?
