After two months of teasers and a nationwide roadshow, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has officially launched the all-new Mitsubishi Xforce today. Positioned as a B-segment SUV and locally assembled (CKD) in Pekan, Pahang, the Xforce is regarded as the true successor to the iconic ASX.

Pricing and Launch Offers: More Accessible Than Expected

The official pricing has come in lower than anticipated, offering welcome relief for budget-conscious buyers.

Official Pricing (On-the-Road, excluding insurance):

Xforce Urban: RM109,980

Xforce Ultimate: RM119,980

Cash Rebate: The attractive RM5,000 cash rebate, originally limited to the first 2,000 bookings, has been extended until 12 April 2026 with no quota limit. All customers who book within this period are eligible.

Loyalty Rebate: Existing Mitsubishi owners and their immediate family members are entitled to an additional RM1,000 loyalty rebate. Government servants are also eligible for this rebate.

Lucky Draw: Customers who purchase the Xforce during the launch period will stand a chance to win another top-spec Xforce Ultimate in the exciting "Buy One, Win One" lucky draw.

Exterior and Dimensions: Built for ASEAN Roads

The design of the all-new Mitsubishi Xforce draws inspiration from the XFC Concept, featuring an evolved version of Mitsubishi's signature Dynamic Shield front fascia. The most striking elements are the T-shaped LED headlamps and taillights, which, combined with the muscular fender flares, create a strong, robust, and commanding presence on the road.

Highest Ground Clearance in Class: The Xforce boasts an impressive ground clearance of 222 mm — the highest in its B-segment SUV class. This gives it superior confidence when tackling Malaysia's frequent flash floods and rough unpaved roads, clearly outperforming key rivals such as the Honda HR-V and Proton X50.

Body Dimensions: 4,390mm long, 1,810mm wide, 1,660mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,650mm. Despite its relatively compact exterior, the 2,650 mm wheelbase delivers generous interior space, particularly in terms of legroom.

Identification Features: The top-spec Ultimate variant stands out with an exclusive bonnet emblem and a sporty tailgate spoiler. Meanwhile, 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels come as standard across the entire Xforce range.

Interior Features: Yamaha Audio and Flexible Space

Stepping inside the Xforce, the most noticeable difference between the two variants lies in the instrumentation and interior materials. The top-spec Ultimate variant features an extensive use of premium White Mélange fabric upholstery on the dashboard — a sophisticated texture rarely seen in the B-segment SUV category.

Ultimate Variant: Equipped with a 12.3-inch floating infotainment touchscreen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, paired with an 8-inch digital instrument cluster. The cluster's interface draws inspiration from the classic Pajero.

Urban Variant: Features an 8-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, along with a smaller 4.2-inch TFT multi-information display.

Other Highlights:

Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium: The top-spec variant is equipped with an 8-speaker Yamaha sound system. This is more than just branding — Yamaha engineers were actively involved in the acoustic tuning of the cabin during the development phase. The system offers four exclusive sound modes: Lively, Signature, Powerful, and Relaxing, delivering a truly immersive audio experience.

Rear Seat Comfort: The rear backrests support an 8-level recline adjustment (rare in its class) and 40:20:40 split-folding, allowing passengers to find the most comfortable seating position.

Powertrain: Mature Stability at Its Core

The Xforce is powered by the proven 1.5L MIVEC naturally aspirated engine (code 4A91), a powertrain renowned for its durability, smoothness, and suitability for everyday urban driving.

Output: Maximum power of 105 PS, peak torque of 141 Nm.

Transmission: Paired with a CVT supplied by Aisin.

Key Technology: The Xforce comes standard with Active Yaw Control (AYC), a technology inherited from the Lancer Evolution. This system enhances cornering stability and traceability by selectively applying braking force to the front wheels.

Drive Modes: The Ultimate variant offers four driving modes: Normal, Wet, Gravel, and Mud. Notably, the "Wet" mode was specially developed by Mitsubishi for Southeast Asia's frequent rainy conditions, significantly improving grip and safety on flooded roads.

Safety Performance: High-Spec ADAS Included

The new car has already achieved a 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating, with excellent structural rigidity confirmed through rigorous testing.

Urban Variant: Standard with 4 airbags, Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and an Around View Monitor (360 camera).

Ultimate Variant: Upgraded to 6 airbags and equipped with a full ADAS suite, including Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN), Auto High Beam (AHB), etc.

Aftersales and Benefits: Lowest Maintenance Cost in Class

MMM understands that Malaysian buyers place great importance on long-term ownership costs. To address this, the company has introduced a highly competitive aftersales package for the Xforce.

Warranty: 5-year unlimited mileage factory warranty.

Maintenance Cost: The official 5-year / 100,000 km maintenance cost is an impressively low RM3,978.03, positioning the Xforce as one of the most affordable vehicles to maintain in its segment.

Genuine Accessories: Various accessory packages are also offered, such as Urban Level Up that gives the entry-level model the appearance of the top-spec variant, and the Excitement package designed to further personalize the vehicle according to individual preferences.

Summary

The all-new Mitsubishi Xforce provides a compelling and well-balanced option for buyers who find the Proton X50 a little too compact or the Honda HR-V a bit too expensive. Rather than chasing extreme performance, the Xforce stands out with practical strengths: class-leading 222 mm ground clearance for excellent wading capability, the premium Yamaha audio system for superior sound enjoyment, and Mitsubishi's renowned long-term reliability.

For Malaysian drivers seeking a versatile daily SUV that can comfortably handle local road conditions — including sudden flash floods — the Xforce is definitely worth a test drive.

With a starting price of RM109,980, do you think the Xforce has what it takes to shake up the competitive B-segment SUV market?
