KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 16 — Tesla Malaysia has rolled out the 2026 Model Y refresh, mirroring the China-market updates first seen on the Model Y L long-wheelbase six-seater. New custom orders via the Tesla Malaysia configurator will get the enhanced specs — no extra cost, even after the CBU EV tax exemption expired on Dec 31, 2025.
Key Upgrades
- 16-inch 2560×1600 centre touchscreen replacing the outgoing 15.4-inch 1920×1200 display, with crisper visuals and smoother interaction.
- 8-inch rear passenger touchscreen added as standard, letting back-seat users control climate and media independently.
- Black headliner & pillar trims (previously light grey) as default, reducing visible dust/stains for family users. White upholstery remains an optional extra.

Market Context
Tesla confirmed it will absorb the post-tax-holiday cost increases instead of hiking prices, to keep EV adoption momentum in Malaysia. The brand currently runs 18 Supercharger stations (76 stalls) and 17 Destination Charging locations across the country, with ongoing expansion plans. This refresh brings the Malaysian Model Y’s interior tech in line with China’s latest production, making it more competitive against rivals like the BYD Atto 3, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Volvo XC40 Recharge.
