In Malaysia, ordering a Porsche 911 is like visiting your favourite nasi kandar stall — you have a vast array of lauk to satisfy your specific cravings. From the entry-level Carrera to the track-focused GT3 RS, the 911 lineup is incredibly diverse. However, for the longest time, one dish has been missing from the menu. If you wanted the high-revving thrill of a GT3's naturally aspirated engine combined with the freedom of a convertible — without the hassle of manually folding the roof — Porsche would simply tell you: "Tak ada".
The previous 911 Speedster was undeniably stunning, but its manual-folding roof was a nightmare for owners dealing with Malaysia's sudden afternoon downpours. Today, Porsche has officially addressed this pain point with the global premiere of the new 911 GT3 S/C (Sport Cabriolet).

The "S/C" in its name stands for Sport Cabriolet. Its arrival breaks a long-standing tradition — GT models have almost always been offered exclusively as hardtop coupés. Even more notably, Porsche has made a generous decision: unlike many previous GT models, the 911 GT3 S/C is not a limited edition, but a regular production model.
The most crucial detail for Malaysian owners: It features a fully automatic soft top, derived from the Cabriolet family. At the touch of a button, the roof can open or close in just 12 seconds — and this can be done at speeds of up to 50 km/h. This level of elegance and everyday convenience is something no previous GT convertible has ever offered.

Under the hood — or more accurately, right behind your ears — lies the heart that makes every petrolhead's pulse race: the legendary 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine.
Maximum Power: 502 hp (510 PS)
Peak Torque: 450 Nm
Redline: 9,000 rpm
Important Note: This model does not offer a PDK automatic option. In pursuit of the ultimate driving engagement, Porsche has paired the engine exclusively with a short-ratio 6-speed manual transmission. It rockets from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 313 km/h. Imagine experiencing all of this without a roof — the raw, unfiltered roar of the 9,000 rpm engine hitting your eardrums directly. This visceral, "physical" surround sound is an experience no high-fidelity audio system can ever replicate.

Don't be fooled into thinking this convertible has gone "soft". Porsche has transferred many high-tech secrets from the limited-edition 911 S/T into the new GT3 S/C.
Extreme Weight Reduction: The bonnet, front wings, and doors are all constructed from lightweight Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP).
Magnesium Wheels: It comes standard with 20-inch front and 21-inch rear magnesium centre-lock wheels, reducing unsprung mass by approximately 8.6 kg compared to standard wheels.
Chassis Tech: Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) are fitted as standard. Even more impressively, the car inherits the carbon fibre anti-roll bars and shear plate from the S/T, keeping the chassis exceptionally stiff and capable of handling aggressive driving on roads like those in Genting Highlands.
Two-Seat Layout: It is currently the only pure two-seater convertible in the 911 family, as the tiny rear seats have been removed. This further reinforces its identity as a hardcore driver's car.
Inside the cabin, the 911 GT3 S/C embraces a purposeful racing atmosphere while maintaining bespoke levels of quality. Carbon fibre trim adorns key areas, and the conventional door handles have been replaced with lightweight, racing-style fabric pull loops for a more focused, track-oriented feel.
Seats: Four-way adjustable Sports Seats Plus come as standard. However, most serious drivers are expected to choose the optional carbon fibre full bucket seats for maximum support and weight savings.

Storage: Thanks to the removal of the rear seats, an optional 80-litre dedicated storage box is available. Although it adds approximately 10 kg to the vehicle's weight, the extra space is highly practical for weekend getaways to the highlands or carrying track-day essentials.

Street Style Package: Through Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, owners can further personalise the 911 GT3 S/C with a range of unique options, including custom graphics, tinted headlamps, and even a retro-style laminated wood gear knob.

In Malaysia, the 911 GT3 S/C is expected to command a significantly higher price than the standard hardtop GT3. However, when you consider that it comes standard with magnesium wheels, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes, and extensive carbon fibre components, its "value for money" is arguably stronger than building a similarly specified hardtop GT3 yourself.
For those who crave the high-revving soul of the GT3 combined with the pure pleasure of cruising under the stars on a cool night, the 911 GT3 S/C is the perfect — and perhaps only — answer currently on the market.
This car isn't built merely to shave milliseconds off a lap time. It is engineered so that at every corner, every gear change, and every breath of fresh air, you feel the purest essence of Porsche.
Bosses, since it's not a limited edition, only one question remains: Have you chosen your colour yet?
