KUALA LUMPUR, April 15, 2026 — Motorists across Peninsular Malaysia received welcome news this evening as the Ministry of Finance announced reductions in the retail prices of all major fuel types for the coming week. The new prices, effective from midnight tonight until Wednesday, April 22, 2026, provide a much-needed respite after a sustained period of price increases.

The most notable reduction this week is in diesel prices. The retail price for B10 and B20 grade diesel has been cut by 75 sen, bringing it down to RM5.97 per litre for the period from April 16 to April 22, 2026. This is a decrease from last week's price of RM6.72 per litre. Consequently, the Euro 5 B7 diesel blend, which carries a 20 sen premium, will now be priced at RM6.17 per litre. It is important to note that the subsidised retail price for diesel in Sabah, Sarawak, and the Federal Territory of Labuan remains unchanged at RM2.15 per litre.

In tandem with the price reduction, the government has announced an improvement to the Budi Madani diesel subsidy assistance programme. The monthly cash assistance for eligible individuals has been increased from RM300 to RM400. The additional RM100 will be disbursed on April 21, 2026. This marks the second increase in the subsidy this year, following a previous raise from RM200 to RM300 in March.

For petrol users, a dual pricing structure remains in place. The subsidised RON95 price under the Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) scheme stays capped at RM1.99 per litre for eligible Malaysians holding a valid driving licence, with the monthly quota temporarily set at 200 litres per person.

In the open market, unsubsidised petrol prices have also fallen. RON95 petrol is reduced by 25 sen to RM4.02 per litre, while RON97 also sees a 25 sen decrease, now priced at RM5.10 per litre for the coming week.

This marks the 17th weekly fuel price announcement of 2026 and the 380th since the weekly fuel price float mechanism was introduced in early 2019. The reductions are expected to provide some relief to household and business transportation costs amid current economic conditions.
