Following the strong local buzz surrounding the C10, Leapmotor has officially launched its range-topping flagship SUV, the Leapmotor D19, in China.
As the brand's largest and most premium SUV to date, the D19 is available with both Battery Electric (BEV) and Extended Range (EREV) powertrains. Pricing in China starts from approximately RM145,000 (converted).
While the vehicle is currently China-exclusive, its future prospects are generating interest among Malaysian car enthusiasts. This is especially relevant as the Stellantis Group has officially taken over Leapmotor's international operations.

The D19 is the first model built on Leapmotor's D-platform and adopts the "Universe Realm" design language, giving it a commanding, boxy silhouette reminiscent of a Range Rover.
High-Tech Lighting: It features advanced million-pixel projection headlights that not only provide excellent road illumination but can also project intelligent light carpets and personalised welcome messages onto the ground.
Flush Side Windows: The vehicle boasts expensive flush-fitting side glass, which enhances the premium aesthetic and significantly reduces wind noise at higher speeds.
Premium Footwear: It rides on striking 21-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin high-performance silent tyres, offering exceptional value and refinement in its segment.

The interior is the highlight of the D19, designed to premium business-class standards that perfectly suit the needs of Malaysian families on long-distance journeys.
First-Class Seating: The second row offers two independent Zero-Gravity massage seats with excellent support and comfort, complemented by convenient foldable tray tables.
Intelligent Constant-Temperature Cooling Box: The cabin is thoughtfully equipped with an on-board refrigerator. In Malaysia's hot climate, this ensures cold drinks are always available, whether on a long balik kampung trip or stuck in city traffic.
Third Row is Not Just for Show: The third row provides ample space and supports one-touch electric folding as well as seat heating, ensuring every passenger remains comfortable even when the vehicle is fully loaded with seven people.
Thoughtful Details: For added convenience, especially for the elderly and children, specially designed grab handles are integrated on the B-pillars, reflecting the flagship model's focus on human-centric ergonomics.

Despite its massive size, the D19 delivers staggering performance.
Acceleration: The BEV version is equipped with a powerful triple-motor system, capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in the 3-second range.
Chassis Tech: It features dual-chamber air suspension and CDC electronic damping for adjustable ride stiffness. Most impressively, it supports "Tank Turns" (pivot turns), allowing this nearly 5-metre-long SUV to manoeuvre with surprising ease in tight spaces.
Long Range: The BEV variant offers an impressive range of up to 720 km, while the EREV version — likely more practical for Malaysian conditions — provides up to 500 km of pure electric range, effectively eliminating range anxiety.

Leapmotor Malaysia is still in its early brand-building phase, with the C10 being the brand's first model in our market. While a full-size SUV like the D19 occupies a relatively niche segment locally, its starting price in China (approximately RM150,000) is highly competitive. If a Right-Hand Drive (RHD) version is eventually introduced in Malaysia at an estimated price of RM280,000 to RM320,000 (after taxes and duties), it could become a compelling option for buyers seeking a large, luxurious SUV with strong value.
Do you think this flagship SUV would pose a serious threat to the Kia EV9 or established European luxury brands if it arrives in Malaysia?
