Recently, Proton outlined its 2026 target of 200,000 units, along with plans for upcoming models, including vehicles based on the new AMA platform, e.MAS models, and mid-cycle updates for the X90 and S70.

Among these, the S70 MC (minor change) and X90 MC are the most concrete at this stage, with the former having already made several sneak appearances over the past few months.

Updates confirmed for the S70 MC include a new Ruby Red colourway, as well as a new 1.5-litre i-GT turbocharged inline-four petrol engine, which is also featured in the latest X50. This same powertrain will be equipped in the X90 MC, as displayed during the Proton Tech Showcase last December.

Next on the product planner are three new models based on Proton’s new AMA (Advanced Modular Architecture), which underpins the latest Proton Saga. These AMA models will replace the legacy PISE lineup (Persona, Iriz, Exora, and the old Saga).
As previously speculated, AMA 02 is likely Proton’s competitor to the Perodua Ativa, potentially dubbed the Proton Saga Cross. Meanwhile, AMA 05 and AMA 06 are expected to become the brand’s new MPV and SUV models.
As for the local BEV brand, Proton e.Mas, expansion is in full swing, with CKD (locally assembled) production well underway. The CKD Proton e.Mas 7 began production at the Tanjung Malim plant in September 2024, with the e.Mas 5 set to follow soon.
This prepares the marque for new Proton e.Mas models based on the GMA (Global Modular Architecture) platform, including both PHEVs and BEVs.
With the launch of these new models, Proton has set a clear growth roadmap, targeting 200,000 units in 2026 before ultimately achieving its “3030” goal by 2030 — comprising 330,000 units in annual sales, 30% NEV penetration, 30% export volume, and presence in 30% of global markets.
