Ahead of the 2026 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, our team on the ground has captured the first images of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W223) Facelift. As the global benchmark for luxury sedans, this mid-cycle update brings significant technological advancements, with over 50% of its components newly developed or optimized.

The facelift focuses on enhancing the S-Class's legendary road presence with new lighting signatures.
Illuminated Grille & Emblem: The radiator grille has grown by approximately 20%, now featuring four horizontal chrome slats. For the first time, it includes an illuminated grille design, complemented by a glow-effect for the iconic standing Three-Pointed Star on the hood.
Star-Pattern Lighting: The headlights now feature a "Double Star" motif, matching the rear lights which house three star-shaped elements on each side.
Statelier Proportions: The vehicle's length has been slightly extended by 14 mm to 5,304 mm, further enhancing its stretched, executive silhouette and stately road presence.

Despite the shift toward electrification, Mercedes-Benz remains committed to perfecting its internal combustion offerings.
V8 (S 580): Powered by the M177 Evo V8 engine, output has been increased to 395 kW (approx. 537 PS/530 hp) with a peak torque of 750 Nm.
Inline-Six (S 450/500): The upgraded M256 Evo engine now delivers 600 Nm of torque, with an overboost function pushing it to 640 Nm.

To uphold the S-Class's hallmark "Magic Carpet" ride quality, the AIRMATIC and E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL systems have been enhanced with a patented Road Surface Memory function. By leveraging Car-to-X cloud data transmitted from other vehicles, the S-Class can effectively "preview" upcoming road irregularities. This allows the suspension to pre-emptively adjust damping characteristics in real-time, neutralizing imperfections before the wheels even make contact.

The cabin's "brain" has been upgraded to Mercedes' in-house developed MB.OS (Mercedes-Benz Operating System), delivering faster processing speeds and more intuitive AI-driven interaction. Furthermore, the new Intelligent Parking Pilot now works in tandem with the rear-axle steering, reducing the number of maneuvers required in tight urban spaces.
With this facelift, the S-Class strikes a balance between bold aesthetic choices — such as the new illuminated star — and deep-tier technical innovations. In the Malaysian market, where the S-Class remains the definitive symbol of success, these refinements will be crucial in fending off increasingly aggressive competition from the BMW 7 Series and emerging premium EV rivals. We anticipate this facelift will make its way to Malaysian shores via the CKD (local assembly) route by 2027.
