At today's opening of the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, Jetour's latest heavyweight contender, the Jetour Traveller 8, made its official debut. Positioned above the T2 (already launched in Malaysia), this new flagship features a more aggressive "boxy" aesthetic and is powered by Chery Group's renowned C-DM plug-in hybrid system, while stepping up its tech game with a LiDAR-based intelligent driving system.

Visually, the Jetour Traveller 8 retains the brand's rugged DNA with a starkly rectangular and powerful silhouette. Up front, the rectangular black grille integrates seamlessly with the headlamps, centered by an illuminated brand logo. Notably, the vehicle adopts a continuous horizontal light bar, which broadens its visual stance and adds a futuristic touch to this tough SUV.
From the side, the Traveller 8 boasts clean, sharp character lines, high wheel arches, and dual six-spoke petal-style wheels that exude off-road confidence. Functional details include sturdy mechanical door handles, while the prominent roof-mounted LiDAR signals advanced L2+ autonomous driving capabilities.

The rear maintains the classic "backpack" external spare tire and a side-hinged tailgate, staying true to its rugged SUV identity. According to on-site specifications, the Traveller 8 is larger than the T2, boasting a wheelbase approaching 3 meters, which ensures a more spacious interior for both family trips and outdoor adventures.

Under the hood, the Traveller 8 utilizes Chery's 5th-generation ACTECO 1.5TGDI high-efficiency hybrid engine, paired with the C-DM plug-in hybrid system. This setup is engineered for both fuel economy and exceptional driving range. Based on platform specs, the system is expected to deliver a combined output of 280 kW (approx. 380 hp) and 610 Nm of torque.
For context, Jetour officially entered the Malaysian market in March this year with the launch of the locally assembled (CKD) Jetour T2 (priced at approximately RM156,800). Following the global debut of the Traveller 8 in Beijing, all eyes are now on Jetour Malaysia to see if this higher-spec, intelligent PHEV variant will eventually join the local lineup.
