Following a social media teaser released yesterday, Jetour Auto Malaysia has officially confirmed that the Jetour T1 will make its Malaysian debut at Penang Autoshow 2026, which opens this week.
The Jetour T1 is no stranger to Malaysian roads. It has been frequently spotted in camouflage testing in Petaling Jaya and Bandar Baru Bangi since late last year. With official teasers now released, it is clear that Malaysian buyers won't have to wait much longer to get behind the wheel of this "Boxy SUV No. 2".

While both models share the same rugged "boxy" design language, the T1 is positioned as a more urban-oriented and versatile option with light off-roading capability.
The most noticeable difference is at the rear: unlike the T2's signature external spare tyre box and side-opening tailgate, the T1 adopts a traditional top-hinged tailgate without the "backpack", giving it a sleeker and more modern appearance suited for city driving.
In terms of dimensions, the T1 is slightly more compact than the T2.
Length: 4,706 mm (T2: 4,785 mm)
Width: 1,967 mm
Height: 1,845 mm
Wheelbase: 2,810 mm
Despite the shorter overall length, the generous wheelbase promises good interior space and comfort.

In China, the Jetour T1 is offered with 1.5L and 2.0L turbocharged petrol engines. However, considering that the Malaysian-spec T2 is equipped with the 2.0T engine, and the T1 recently achieved a 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating in its 2.0T configuration, it is highly likely that Jetour Auto Malaysia will introduce the T1 with the 2.0T + 8AT powertrain to maintain strong performance and market competitiveness.
Safety is a major priority for Malaysian buyers. The Jetour T1 has delivered excellent results in ASEAN NCAP testing, scoring 87.67 points and earning a full 5-star safety rating. It performed particularly well in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Safety Assist (SA) categories, making it a reassuring choice for families.

In China, the Jetour T1 is priced between CNY 124,900 and CNY 154,900 (approximately RM72,000 – RM90,000). Given its more urban-friendly positioning compared to the larger T2, we expect the Malaysian market price to be attractively positioned.
If you're looking for a rugged-looking SUV that offers strong presence without the bulk of a traditional 4x4, make sure to visit the Jetour T1 at the SPICE Arena in Penang this weekend.
What do you think — could a starting price in the RM130,000 range make the Jetour T1 a serious threat to Japanese rivals in the Malaysian market?
