BMW has issued a global recall affecting approximately 575,000 vehicles produced between July 2020 and July 2022, due to a critical starter motor issue.
What’s the Problem?
The defect lies in the magnetic switch (solenoid) of the starter motor. Repeated engine starts cause excessive wear, leading to:
- Difficulty starting the vehicle or failure to start
- Short circuit risk → localized overheating → potential fire hazard while the engine is running or in motion
