BMW has added the all-electric iX4 to its Neue Klasse line-up. The new SUV coupé combines BMW's latest EV technology with a sportier design, and will be available in three variants, including the range-topping iX4 M60 xDrive.

The iX4 follows the design language of BMW's Neue Klasse models, with a sloping roofline that gives it the profile of an SUV coupé.

The new model measures 4,782 mm long, 1,895 mm wide and 1,595 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,897 mm.

Sloping roofline and panoramic glass roof
The iX4's long wheelbase, short overhangs and sloping roofline give it the proportions of a coupé. A large curved panoramic glass roof with heat insulation comes as standard across the range. Its concealed sealing design also gives the roof a cleaner appearance.

M Sport package as standard
The iX4 comes with the M Sport package as standard, along with 20-inch M light-alloy wheels and M Sport brakes with blue callipers. The iX4 M60 xDrive gets larger 21-inch wheels and red callipers.

Rear design and lighting
The rear spoiler sits neatly above the rear window and is designed to improve aerodynamic efficiency. The slim horizontal tail lights reinterpret BMW's familiar L-shaped design with a more abstract look. The iX4 M60 xDrive also features M Yellow Lights, inspired by GT racing and the BMW M Hybrid V8 race car.

Nine exterior colours
At launch, the iX4 will be available in nine paint finishes: Alpine White, Mineral White, Sapphire Black, Space Silver, M Brooklyn Grey, Eucalyptus Green, Fire Red, Polarized Grey and Ocean Wave Blue.
Inside, the iX4 features BMW's latest display and infotainment technology.

BMW Panoramic Vision and central touchscreen
The iX4 comes with BMW Panoramic iDrive and the new BMW Operating System X. Its main display features include BMW Panoramic Vision, which projects information across the lower edge of the windscreen, and an optional 3D Head-Up Display.
The dashboard also houses a 17.9-inch central touchscreen angled towards the driver.

Shy Tech steering wheel
The multifunction steering wheel uses BMW's Shy Tech technology. The driver assistance and multimedia controls light up when needed, remaining unobtrusive when not in use.

Harman Kardon sound system
Higher-spec versions come with a 13-speaker, 430-watt Harman Kardon sound system that supports Dolby Atmos.
The iX4 uses BMW's sixth-generation eDrive technology, known as Gen6, and an 800V electrical architecture across the range. Its high-voltage battery uses new cylindrical cells measuring 46 mm in diameter and 95 mm tall, which offer higher energy density.
Three versions will be available at launch.
BMW iX4 40 xDrive (entry-level version)
The iX4 40 xDrive uses two electric motors and BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system.

BMW iX4 50 xDrive (long-range version)
The iX4 50 xDrive also has dual-motor all-wheel drive, but uses a larger battery and delivers more power than the 40 xDrive. Its claimed WLTP range reaches 828 km.

BMW iX4 M60 xDrive (M Performance flagship)
At the top of the range, the iX4 M60 xDrive uses sixth-generation BMW M eDrive technology. Its dual-motor set-up produces 450 kW (612 hp) and 875 Nm of torque.
The iX4 features BMW's Heart of Joy high-performance computer, which processes information up to 10 times faster than previous systems.
The system coordinates the electric drive, brakes, charging, energy recuperation and steering. BMW says this helps improve precision through corners and enables smoother braking through its Soft Stop function.
During everyday driving, up to 98% of deceleration can be handled by energy recuperation, reducing the need to use the conventional brakes.

The BMW iX4 40 xDrive and iX4 50 xDrive are expected to go on sale in global markets, including Europe, from March 2027. The iX4 M60 xDrive is scheduled to open for bookings in January 2027, with production due to begin in March of the same year.

BMW Malaysia introduced the all-electric iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro in August 2026, priced from RM 378,800. The launch marked another step in the brand's expansion of its EV line-up in Malaysia.
As another SUV in the Neue Klasse family, the iX4 would give Malaysian buyers an alternative to the iX3, with its sloping roofline and coupé-inspired styling. It also features an 800V electrical architecture and BMW's sixth-generation eDrive technology.
However, BMW Malaysia has yet to confirm whether the iX4 will be introduced locally.
