BYD Sime Motors gathers over 800 attendees for AllStar Legends weekend in Malaysia

BYD Sime Motors brought together more than 800 people for its AllStar Legends experience, giving Malaysian BYD owners and their families the opportunity to meet football stars including Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen and Ryan Giggs.

Described by the distributor as Malaysia’s largest BYD owners gathering, the event included owners, employees, partners and management. The programme combined meet-and-greet sessions, a Legends Talk and gala dinner with the AllStar Legends match at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

Football legends meet the Malaysian BYD community

Joining Gerrard, Owen and Giggs were Alessandro Del Piero, Dida and Javier Saviola, bringing together familiar names from Premier League and international football.

The visiting players began their activities on 2 October with a tour of Kuala Lumpur, travelling in BYD vehicles before making appearances at BYD Glenmarie and BYD TREC Kuala Lumpur.

For owners, the weekend offered opportunities to meet the former players, hear stories from their careers and watch them take to the pitch. It also gave attendees a chance to get acquainted with fellow BYD drivers outside the usual showroom or ownership setting.

Children from BYD families join the players on the pitch

Selected children from BYD-owning families took part as official player mascots, walking onto the pitch alongside the football legends before kick-off.

Among the participating parents was Fatin, a BYD Sealion 7 owner, who described seeing her child accompany the players in front of thousands of spectators as a proud moment for the family.

BYD Seal owner Sam Khoo, meanwhile, highlighted the combination of meeting the legends, attending the gala dinner and watching the match up close as the standout parts of his experience.

BYD Sime Motors puts the focus on owner experiences

For BYD Sime Motors, the event formed part of its efforts to build closer relationships with customers through activities beyond their vehicles.

Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Sime Motors, Southeast Asia, said the programme was a way to thank owners while bringing the growing community together around shared interests.

“At BYD Sime Motors, we believe ownership extends far beyond the vehicle itself,” he said.

Jacob Ma, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, drew a connection between the footballers’ careers and the brand’s “Build Your Dreams” message, pointing to their dedication and determination as sources of inspiration.

The AllStar Legends partnership gave that message a more personal setting, with owners meeting players they had followed and children joining their football heroes on the pitch. For the participating families, those interactions were the main attraction of the weekend.
