The 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine produces 265 PS and 370 Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission. Volkswagen quotes a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of just 5.9 seconds.

Vehicle Dynamics Manager

The Golf GTI comes with Volkswagen's Vehicle Dynamics Manager and XDS electronic differential lock, helping improve traction and stability through corners.

Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC)

Drivers can choose from four driving modes – Eco, Comfort, Sport and Individual. Steering response and suspension damping can be adjusted to suit different road conditions and driving preferences, whether you're commuting through town or enjoying a more spirited drive.

The facelifted Golf GTI Mk8.5 retains its familiar hot-hatch design, with several updates to its lighting and exterior details.

IQ.LIGHT matrix LED headlights

The Golf GTI features IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights with High Beam Plus automatic high-beam control. A full-width LED light strip across the front grille and an illuminated Volkswagen badge give the car a more distinctive appearance at night.

Sporty exterior details

The GTI rides on 18-inch two-tone Richmond alloy wheels, complemented by red brake callipers, twin chrome exhaust outlets and GTI-specific welcome lights that project onto the ground.

Interior and technology

Inside, the Golf GTI combines its traditional performance-focused details with an updated digital interface and a generous list of equipment.

GTI-specific interior 

The front sports seats are upholstered in Vienna leather and feature red GTI embroidery.

The driver's seat is electrically adjustable and comes with lumbar support. There's also a leather-wrapped multifunction sports steering wheel with paddle shifters and heating, along with 30-colour ambient lighting.

Digital displays and connectivity

The dashboard features a 10-inch Digital Cockpit Pro instrument display, a head-up display (HUD) and a new 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen.

The system includes built-in 2D and 3D maps of Malaysia, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Harman Kardon sound system

The premium audio system delivers 480W of output through a 12-channel amplifier, eight speakers and a subwoofer.

IQ.DRIVE safety features

Standard safety and driver assistance equipment includes Travel Assist, Lane Assist, Side Assist blind-spot monitoring, Rear Traffic Alert, Front Assist with autonomous emergency braking, and seven airbags.

Pricing in Malaysia

According to Volkswagen's latest official pricing and specification information, the facelifted Golf GTI is priced as follows:

• Retail price (excluding insurance): RM 242,990
• On-the-road price without insurance: RM 244,012
• Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP): RM 13,000
• On-the-road price with VAP: RM 257,012

The optional Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP) includes a five-year manufacturer's warranty, five years of scheduled maintenance at no additional charge and five years of roadside assistance.

Without VAP, the standard package includes a two-year manufacturer's warranty and five years of roadside assistance.
