Geely Xingyuan hits one-million production mark in two years – the car behind Proton eMas 5

The Geely Xingyuan, the all-electric hatchback that forms the basis of Malaysia's Proton eMas 5, has hit the one-million-unit production mark.

The milestone comes in October 2026, just two years after the model first went on sale in China.

Exterior

The Xingyuan's rounded front end is said to resemble a smile. Its Yingyu LED headlights combine the position lights, indicators, and high and low beams in a single housing, giving the car a distinctive look when illuminated.

At the rear, the Guangyu LED tail-lights use a split design with 78 individual LED elements, separating the different lighting functions. The updated model also comes with new 16-inch petal-style alloy wheels.

In terms of size, the Xingyuan measures 4,135 mm in length, 1,805 mm in width and 1,570 mm in height, with a 2,650 mm wheelbase.

Eight exterior colours are available: Milk Salt Beige, Sakura Pink, Cocoa Beige, Chanson Purple, Basil Green, Ice Berry Pink, Milk Foam White and Mousse Silver.

Interior and technology

Inside, Geely has introduced two new colour schemes, Taro White and Starry Grey.

The Xingyuan runs Geely's Flyme Auto 2.0 infotainment system, powered by a 7nm Dragon Eagle-1 processor. It features an eight-core CPU, 16GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, allowing the system to respond quickly when switching between navigation, music and other applications.

The dashboard houses an 8.8-inch digital instrument display and a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen.

There's also dual-zone voice control, including a "see it, say it" feature that lets users operate functions displayed on the screen using voice commands. Smartphone connectivity is available through HiCar and Carlink.

Geely has also moved the gear selector to the steering column to free up cabin space and rearranged some of the physical controls.

Higher-spec versions are fitted with the G-Pilot H3 driver assistance package. This includes Navigation on Autopilot (NOA) for motorways and elevated roads, automated parking for more than 300 scenarios, memory parking over routes of up to 2km, Sentry Mode and a driver monitoring system (DMS) with fatigue detection.

Battery, range and charging

The updated Xingyuan also brings longer driving ranges. The entry-level version has been upgraded from 310km to 410km, while the previous 410km version now offers 480km.

In China, buyers choosing the 410km model can opt for the shorter-range 310km configuration instead, saving around RMB 7,000 (approximately RM 4,300). This gives buyers who don't need the additional range a cheaper option.

The battery uses CATL cells with an energy density of 190 Wh/kg and supports charging at up to 1.66C. Geely claims a 30–80% charge takes 19 minutes.

Proton eMas 5 in Malaysia

Back to Malaysia, the Proton eMas 5, which is based on the Xingyuan, is currently available in two variants, with the following special launch prices:

  • Prime: RM 56,800
  • Premium: RM 69,800
