Chery Global Innovation Conference 2026: Inside the 11 technological ecosystems mapping out Chery's tech evolution

Chery held its 2026 Global Innovation Conference at the Chery Global Innovation Centre in Wuhu, China, on 20 October.

Under the theme "Change", the event saw the unveiling of 11 key technology platforms and systems.

They span Robotaxi, vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology, Volt-dragon charging, wireless charging, eVTOL, chips, the CheryMind AI model, the Chery All-World Engine (CHERY AWE), solid-state batteries, the Lingxi 8D Intelligent Cockpit, solar-powered vehicles with atmospheric water harvesting, a 48V low-voltage electrical system and an integrated intelligent driving unit.

Here are the key technologies Chery presented at the event.

CheryMind

Chery introduced CheryMind, a domain-specific foundation model developed for Physical AI. It brings together the company's accumulated engineering knowledge, technical data and experience across different operating environments, and is designed to work closely with its in-house Ziwei chip series.

The technology is intended for use beyond intelligent vehicles, with potential applications in robotics and other fields.

  • A large data foundation: Chery says CheryMind draws on 700TB of corporate knowledge, 200PB of engineering data, and extensive datasets from autonomous driving and robotics.
  • Applications across industries: The model is designed to support development across automotive, robotics and agricultural machinery, allowing engineering knowledge and technical capabilities to be reused across different businesses and projects with global partners.

Ziwei Chip Series

Chery also unveiled its in-house Ziwei chip family, comprising three series for different automotive applications.

  • C series – central computing chips: Designed for high-performance computing. The flagship C100 is rated at up to 1,200 TOPS and is scheduled to launch in 2027.
  • S series – automotive-grade silicon carbide (SiC) chips: The line-up includes the S750 and S1200, both planned for 2026, the S1500 for 2027, and the S2300, developed specifically for AI applications.
  • M series – automotive control chips: Planned products include the MC200 domain controller and MS100 pre-driver in 2027, the MX100 power management IC (PMIC) in 2028, and the MC100 electric-drive chip in 2029.

Lingxiao eVTOL

Chery is also moving into the electric aviation sector, unveiling two aircraft under its Lingxiao brand.

  • Lingxiao Q212: A two-seat, electrically powered aircraft with a compound-wing design. Its maximum speed is 120 km/h, with more than 60 minutes of flight time on a full charge.
  • Lingxiao J506: A five-seat aircraft featuring six tilting rotors. It has a claimed maximum speed of 350 km/h and a range of more than 1,000 km.

Charging Technology

Chery presented three charging technologies aimed at making EV ownership and charging infrastructure more flexible.

V2G vehicle-to-grid technology

The AC V2G system allows compatible vehicles to feed electricity back into the power grid. By charging when demand is low and supplying power when demand peaks, Chery estimates that vehicle owners could earn more than RMB 3,000 (around RM 1,800) a year. The system could also provide backup power during grid outages.

Chery plans to build 20,000 V2G sites worldwide by 2029.

Volt-dragon Charger

Chery's Volt-dragon (Xunlong) system supports charging currents of up to 1,500A and a maximum system output of 1.44MW. According to the company, five minutes of charging can add up to 500km of driving range. The charging cable weighs no more than 2kg, while operating noise is rated below 50dBA.

Wireless charging

The wireless charging system is designed for public and private parking spaces, as well as autonomous parking and charging for Robotaxis. It delivers 11kW of power, supports up to 22kW and has a claimed transmission efficiency of more than 92%.

Robotaxi

Chery unveiled the industry's first Robotaxi designed for factory integration and global markets. The company aims to deploy 100,000 vehicles worldwide by 2030.

The vehicle is designed around five principles: a purpose-built architecture, factory-integrated autonomous driving hardware, a dedicated user experience, an operating model tailored to Robotaxi services, and suitability for global deployment.

Chery also outlined six layers of safety protection covering passenger safety, behaviour safety, perception safety, algorithm safety, control execution and fleet operations.

CHERY AWE

Chery's All-World Engine (CHERY AWE) combines a world model with three specialised models to support the autonomous driving process.

  • Scene Model: Builds a library of more than 700,000 driving scenarios, including high-risk and extreme situations. It combines data such as multi-view camera images and LiDAR point clouds to simulate less common road conditions.
  • Language-Visual Model: Uses camera feeds, navigation data and instructions to reason across different sources of information. Chery says it can interpret junctions and landmarks along a route, helping the vehicle navigate using road signs and other visual cues.
  • Policy Model: Focuses on driving decisions, with the aim of anticipating potential hazards rather than simply reacting once a dangerous situation develops.

Rhino S Solid-State Battery

Chery announced that a pilot production line for its Rhino S solid-state battery is scheduled to begin operation in 2027.

The battery has a claimed cell energy density of up to 400Wh/kg and is designed to operate across a wide temperature range, from -40°C to 100°C. Chery also says it can continue operating after exposure to temperatures as high as 200°C.

Lingxi 8D Smart Cockpit

The Lingxi 8D Intelligent Cockpit uses Chery's AIOS architecture to coordinate five major vehicle domains: chassis, cockpit, body, intelligent driving and powertrain. The system is designed to respond within milliseconds.

Its features include:

  • Proactive assistance: Combines detection of pedestrians' intentions outside the vehicle with monitoring of occupants' emotions and fatigue, allowing the system to offer assistance when needed.
  • Eight-dimensional immersive experience: Integrates sound, visuals, scent, motion, touch, emotion, health and social interaction. During video playback, for example, the suspension, cabin fragrance, ambient lighting and audio can work in sync.
  • Personalised settings: Users can create custom scenarios through natural-language commands.

Solar Vehicle & Atmospheric Water Harvesting

Chery also presented a combination of flexible solar panels and an atmospheric water harvesting system intended for outdoor use and locations without access to conventional infrastructure.

Flexible solar panels

The solar covering weighs 1.5kg per square metre and is 1mm thick, allowing it to conform to the roof and bonnet. With at least 4 square metres of coverage, the system is rated to generate at least 640W of power and up to 6kWh of electricity a day. The electricity can be fed directly into the traction battery, with transmission losses claimed to be below 10%.

Atmospheric water harvesting

Using a new adsorption material, the system is able to extract water from air in environments with relative humidity ranging from 20% to 90%. Chery claims it can produce up to 5 litres of drinking water a day while consuming less than 0.5kWh of electricity daily.

It can also run on solar power, potentially reducing reliance on external supplies during camping trips or off-grid use.

48V Low-Voltage Electrical System

Chery is developing a next-generation low-voltage electrical architecture based on a 48V main electrical network rather than the conventional 12V setup.

The system is designed to power higher-demand components, including chassis and thermal management systems. Chery says the higher-voltage architecture can support greater electrical loads, improve integration and response times, and provide additional safety margins as the technology moves towards wider adoption.

4-in-1 Intelligent Driving Unit

Chery's integrated intelligent driving unit combines four technologies at the wheel end: electromechanical braking (EMB), in-wheel motors, independent steering at all four wheels, and active suspension.

By allowing each wheel to move and steer more independently while coordinating control through an integrated chassis system, the technology can improve stability, handling and manoeuvrability. Potential functions include turning on the spot and crab-walking, in which the vehicle moves diagonally.
