Honda celebrates 500th F1 race at 2026 US Grand Prix with Aston Martin and exclusive merchandise

Honda is marking its 500th Formula 1 race at this weekend's United States Grand Prix, taking place from 23 to 25 October at the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas.

To celebrate the milestone, Honda has teamed up with its current F1 partner, the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, for a series of activities both on and off the track.

Aston Martin AMR26 to carry special Honda 500 branding

Honda began a new works partnership with Aston Martin Aramco in 2026, supplying the team with its RA626H hybrid power unit under Formula 1's new technical regulations.

For the United States Grand Prix, Aston Martin's AMR26 cars will feature special "Honda 500" commemorative branding to mark the occasion.

Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) engineers working with the team will also wear special uniforms featuring the same anniversary logo throughout the race weekend.

From F1 debut to new Aston Martin partnership

Honda made its Formula 1 debut at the 1964 German Grand Prix. Over the following six decades, the Japanese manufacturer has competed as a full works team, developing both chassis and engines, as well as an engine supplier and power unit manufacturer.

Reflecting on the anniversary, HRC President Koji Watanabe said, "Since Honda first entered F1 in 1964, the company has experienced countless challenges, setbacks and moments of triumph on the world's highest stage of motorsport. I am delighted that Honda has now reached the significant milestone of 500 races."

Some of Honda's most notable F1 achievements include:

1965 – First Formula 1 victory

Richie Ginther drove the Honda RA272 to victory at the Mexican Grand Prix, securing Honda's first F1 win.

1980–1990s – Championship-winning years

Honda-powered Williams cars won the Constructors' Championships in 1986 and 1987, followed by McLaren-Honda's four consecutive Constructors' titles from 1988 to 1991. Honda engines also powered several Drivers' Championship-winning cars during this period.

2019–2025 – Red Bull Racing partnership

Honda's power unit technology played a part in Red Bull Racing's championship success, including Max Verstappen's four consecutive Drivers' titles from 2021 to 2024.

2026 – A new chapter with Aston Martin

Honda entered a new works partnership with Aston Martin as Formula 1 introduced its latest generation of power unit regulations.

Special website, video and commemorative merchandise

Honda has launched a dedicated Honda F1 500th race website, looking back at its Formula 1 history. A commemorative video has also been released on Honda's official YouTube channel.

To mark the occasion, Honda has also introduced a range of limited-edition "Honda 500" merchandise in Japan.

The collection includes stainless steel insulated tumblers featuring historic Honda racing cars, flight-tag keyrings, sticker sets and replica HRC engineer uniforms produced by Japanese sportswear brand Mizuno.

With the Honda 500 logo appearing on Aston Martin's AMR26 cars this weekend, the United States Grand Prix will mark another milestone in Honda's Formula 1 history, more than 60 years after the manufacturer first entered the championship.
