Proton S70 RS trademark filed in Malaysia – facelift could arrive in Q1 2027

The Proton S70 RS name has surfaced in a Malaysian trademark application, suggesting it could be used for the upcoming S70 facelift.

We dug around the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO)website, and discovered that Proton filed the application with Amera binti Mohd Yusof/Amera & Associates Advocates, dated 28 September 2026.

What could change on the Proton S70 facelift?

Various online sources claim the updated Proton S70 will receive a new grille, redesigned front and rear bumpers, revised tail lamps, and sportier wheels.

Inside, the reported changes include a new dashboard and a steering-column-mounted gear selector. These remain unofficial details, with the trademark filing providing no confirmation of the proposed updates.

Whether or not the RS name could hint at a higher performance variant remains to be seen.

When could it launch?

Sources hinted at a possible first-quarter 2027 debut, although this remains an unofficial timeline.

Given that spyshots of the model are all over social media platforms, we reckon that the debut could be just around the corner.

The recall covers affected Omoda 5 C and H variants, with Chery identifying a potential issue involving a rear axle component manufactured in 2023. The company says affected vehicles will receive free inspections and component replacements where necessary. Owners can check whether their vehicles are involved by entering their chassis number on their website. Even if your vehicle isn't listed, Chery says you can still arrange an inspection at an authorised service centre. Second-hand owners are eligible too. It's a free check. #CheryMalaysia #chery #Omoda5 #chery05 1 minute ago The Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan Malaysia is suspending the VTA and new registrations of the Chery Omoda 5 in Malaysia, following the latest axle detachment fiasco earlier last week.
