Chery is taking another significant step forward with the development of its new Smart Auto Industrial Park in Lembah Beringin, Selangor. The project marks a major milestone in the brand's long-term commitment to strengthening its manufacturing capabilities and expanding its presence in the Malaysian market.

The recent topping-out ceremony symbolizes the completion of the building's main structural framework, bringing the industrial park one step closer to full operation. Once completed, the facility is expected to play a key role in supporting Chery's local assembly operations, improving production efficiency, and accelerating the delivery of vehicles to customers across Malaysia and the wider ASEAN region.

Built on a 200-acre site with an investment of RM2.2 billion, the Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park underscores the company's long-term commitment to Malaysia. The facility is expected to enhance local production capacity and reinforce Malaysia's role as a key manufacturing base for Chery's ASEAN operations.

“Today’s topping-out ceremony marks an important milestone for Chery in Malaysia. It reflects not only the progress of this project, but also our strong confidence in the Malaysian market and its potential as a regional hub,” said Michael Chew, Senior Director, Product Strategy and Fleet Sales of Chery Corporate Malaysia.

The first phase of the Smart Auto Industrial Park is projected to generate approximately 2,000 direct employment opportunities. As the remaining phases are completed in 2028 and 2029, the workforce is expected to expand to around 5,000 employees.

Beyond the plant itself, the industrial park is anticipated to stimulate growth across the wider automotive supply chain. The arrival of component manufacturers, logistics providers, and supporting businesses is expected to create thousands of additional indirect jobs, with the overall employment impact estimated to reach between 7,000 and 8,000 positions.

Menteri Besar of Selangor, YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Bin Shari said, “This new chapter for Lembah Beringin, with Chery Malaysia as one of its anchors, can spur the town forward by rapidly developing new supply chains, reducing business operation and travel times, and ultimately creating better-quality jobs for Selangorians.”

Located within Selangor’s automotive corridor, construction commenced soon after the project’s 2025 groundbreaking. The development is expected to deliver wider economic impact, from job creation and workforce upskilling to stronger integration of local suppliers into the automotive ecosystem, further enhancing Malaysia’s position in the regional value chain.

At the event, Selangor State Executive Councillor for Investment, Trade and Mobility, YB Ng Sze Han said the state’s ambition was to have a complete automotive city. “It is where carmakers, component suppliers, research, and training sit side by side, and where the supply chain is built and kept here in Selangor. Chery’s arrival is the first major step towards that vision.”
