BYD Malaysia has just launched the new 2026 BYD Sealion 7 EV in the country, days after its initial teaser.

As the teaser mentioned, BYD Malaysia has promised that the 2026 BYD Sealion 7 will be “redefined further for tomorrow”, which pretty much hints at the larger battery pack.

How much larger you ask? Well, there’s a 10% increase in battery capacity versus the launch model. We will dive into the specifics below.
This update exercise also introduces a new entry-level Dynamic variant.
In terms of pricing, the new 2026 BYD Sealion 7 is priced from:
Complimentary accessories include a vehicle-to-load (V2L) adapter and a type 2 charging cable with 3-pin plug.

As before, the 2026 BYD Sealion 7 is fully imported (CBU) from China.
The exterior is largely carried over from the previous model, but with some minor tweaks.

Here, the new Dynamic and Premium variants get a set of 19-inch wheels wrapped in 235/45R19 tyres up front and 255/45R19 at the rear.

Then the Performance variant swaps that out for a set of 20-inch wheels wrapped in 245/45R20 tyres all round.

Colour options include Aurora White, Atlantis Grey, Cosmos Black, and Shark Grey. The Premium variant can also be specific in a variant-specific shade called Ultraviolet.

Inside, the cabin of the 2026 BYD Sealion 7 gets a 15.6-inch infotainment display.

The entry Dynamic variant offers an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat and 6-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, while the Premium and Performance variants add 4-way lumbar adjustment and power-adjustable leg rest. Front ventilated seats are fitted to all variants of the 2026 BYD Sealion 7.

The biggest change is under the skin –BYD has swapped out the 82.5-kWh LFP pack in favour of a larger 91.3-kWh one, but they’ve also upgraded the car’s electric architecture to 800-volt. That said, these upgrades are ony for the Premium and Performance variants.

As such, the range gets bumped up to 502 km under the WLTP cycle (compared to the max 480 km that the RWD variant could muster).
The 800-volt electrical architecture also increases the DC fast charging rate to 230 kW, up from the previous model’s 400-volt system. This reduces the 10% to 80% charging time to 24 minutes (the older 400-volt peaked at 150 kW and took 32 minutes).

Unchanged is the output figures of the 2026 BYD Sealion 7 – the Premium RWD variant continues to output 230 kW (313 PS) and 380 Nm, while the Performance AWD, which adds a front-mounted electric motor, churns out 390 kW (530 PS) and 690 Nm.
The new entry-level Dynamic variant gets a rear-mounted motor that does 170 kW (231 PS) and 380 Nm, powered by a 71.8-kWh LFP battery pack. Under the WLTP test cycle, this entry-level variant offers up to 405 km.
Starting with the Dynamic variant, standard equipment includes:
