Lexus LY 680 yacht takes luxury mobility from road to sea

Lexus is taking its luxury ambitions beyond the road, bringing its LY 680 yacht to the global market following its launch in Japan. The yacht will make its global debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in Florida, US, from 28 October to 1 November 2026.

Under the theme "DISCOVER ESCAPISM", Lexus aims to extend its vision of luxury mobility from land to sea, offering buyers a private retreat where they can unwind and escape the demands of everyday life.

From luxury cars to life on the water

Lexus's ambitions have long extended beyond cars. In 2017, Toyota introduced the Lexus Sport Yacht concept, followed by the brand's first production yacht, the LY 650, in 2019.

Toyota chairman Akio Toyoda has described the LY series as a symbol of Lexus's ambition to evolve from an automotive marque into a luxury lifestyle brand.

The new LY 680 builds on the LY 650, with several changes creating more space for leisure and entertaining:

  • Extended flybridge: Lengthened by approximately 1,400 mm to provide more room for outdoor relaxation and entertaining.
  • Larger swimming platform: Extended by 700 mm.
  • Overall length: 68 feet, or approximately 20.63 metres.

Away from traffic lights, congestion and the distractions of everyday life, the LY 680 is designed to give owners, family and friends a private space to relax on the water.

Lexus design meets yacht-building expertise

For the LY 680, Lexus has partnered with Taiwan-based Horizon Group, an established yacht builder, combining Lexus's design approach with the group's boatbuilding expertise.

Lexus oversees the overall design, drawing on its signature L-finesse design philosophy, as well as the onboard luxury experience. Horizon Group is responsible for construction and craftsmanship.

Toyota's Production System (TPS) is also incorporated into the manufacturing process, bringing Toyota's emphasis on production quality and consistency to yacht building.

Beyond its styling and carefully finished interior, the LY 680 is designed to deliver a smooth and quiet experience on the water, reflecting the comfort and refinement associated with Lexus cars.
