The cat riding a Myvi roof

In late August, a black Myvi was spotted driving along a road in Penang with an orange cat perched on its roof. The terrified cat was meowing constantly and too scared to move, while the driver remained completely oblivious.

A trailing motorist accelerated to catch up, wound down the window, and shouted to alert the driver. It was only after pulling over that the driver realized they had unintentionally chauffeured a cat all the way.

The video quickly went viral on social media, racking up 37,000 views overnight.

One user joked, Myvi really is built to last — the cat stayed on the roof for the entire journey and still looked completely unfazed. 

Another quipped: Good thing cats have nine lives, otherwise it might have come out of this with only half a life left.

The AI-generated buffalo in an Alza

In June, a photo took social media by storm, showing a buffalo sitting in the boot of a Perodua Alza. A man had driven it for 9 hours from Mukah, Sarawak. Netizens chimed in, asking: Does the buffalo get motion sickness? Are its legs numb?

However, the car owner, Richard, later clarified that the image was AI-generated. While he did travel to Limbang to participate in a buffalo race, he did not transport a real buffalo in his car. The journey from Mukah to Limbang is long and requires crossing the Brunei border.

The AI image was originally shared among friends for fun, but unexpectedly went viral. Some netizens joked: This might be the most successful use of AI in 2026.

The flame-spitting Myvi outshining a supercar

In June, a video surfaced showing a Lamborghini and several other supercars accelerating away from a toll plaza, with flames spitting from their exhausts. Suddenly, a Myvi entered the frame, shooting massive backfires from its exhaust pipe as it sped off.

Netizens completely ignored the supercars, focusing entirely on the Myvi.

One commented: Remember, no matter how fast you drive, there will always be a Myvi that is faster.

Another quipped: This is why I didn't buy a Lamborghini; getting overtaken by a Myvi is just too embarrassing.

The viral video coincided with the 2026 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show, which showcased various supercars and concept cars. Yet, in the online sphere, the spotlight was completely stolen by the country's favourite “national car”.

Recently, road users spotted a white Honda City with a massive dome CCTV camera mounted on its rear bumper. While most drivers opt for discreet, compact dashcams, this owner went for a shopping mall-grade surveillance unit.

Netizens had a field day, commenting: Is this to monitor every car behind? Now that's full insurance coverage.

This is arguably the most hardcore dashcam modification of 2026. While typical dashcams record road incidents, this one practically records security footage for the entire street.

Some say it is down to Malaysians' vivid imagination. Others put it down to the country's love of sharing. But perhaps the real reason is simpler: when a Myvi can earn itself the title of the "king of the road", there was never much chance of Malaysian roads being boring.
