The Geely Binyue has gone under the knife again, as this B-segment SUV has now received another update since its initial introduction in 2018.
And yes, for those unaware, the Geely Binyue is essentially the donor car to the Proton X50.
Geely has released the official images of the 2027 Binyue Super Edition, with the updated SUV set to make its debut in China on 27 October.
This is more of a nip-and-tuck job than a full model change, with the body structure and powertrain staying the same. The changes are mainly on the outside, inside the cabin and in technology.

The facelifted Binyue adopts Geely's new design language, giving the SUV a more aggressive look.
Up front, the grille has been redesigned with 14 vertical silver-finished bars, creating a wider and more imposing appearance. It is paired with sharp, wing-shaped LED daytime running lights that feature a flowing lighting effect when switched on.
The side profile gets a set of standard 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, while a streamlined rear spoiler adds to the sportier look.
At the back, the Binyue retains a familiar SUV silhouette but gets distinctive LED taillights with a three-tier light-bar design. The lighting arrangement gives the rear end a more noticeable signature, especially at night.
Four new exterior colours will be available: Ripple Blue, Cloud White, Moonlight Silver, and Mountain Grey.

Inside, the Binyue gets a new wraparound cockpit, with soft-touch materials covering much of the cabin.
The centre armrest comes with gloss-black trim and a more practical layout. Geely has also kept physical buttons within easy reach, while the concealed cupholders help give the centre console a cleaner look.
The door panels get a new diamond-pattern finish, paired with leather upholstery for a more upmarket feel.
There are also two new interior colour options. Warm Sun Orange brings a brighter touch to the cabin, while Dusk Grey goes for a more understated look.

The main highlight inside is the new dual-screen setup, comprising a 14.6-inch central infotainment touchscreen and an 8.8-inch digital instrument display.
A 14.6-inch central screen is fairly sizeable for a B-segment SUV. Geely says the instrument display is designed to remain clear in bright sunlight while reducing glare in low-light conditions.
The infotainment system has also been upgraded, bringing a more comprehensive connected ecosystem and a smoother user experience.
Given the close relationship between the Geely Binyue and the Proton X50, any update to the Chinese SUV is bound to get local fans talking.
Proton already produces a model based on the Geely Coolray (Binyue) for export to overseas markets, so the Binyue's latest facelift gives us a possible glimpse of what could eventually happen to the X50.
What do you think? Could Proton give the X50 a less aggressive makeover?
