Toyota will introduce a new organisational structure on 1 January 2027, placing greater emphasis on its product- and region-based management approach.
Announced on 5 November, the changes are expected to give regional teams more autonomy, bringing decision-making closer to local markets and allowing the company to respond more quickly to changing customer needs.

Toyota's current global footprint
Under the new approach, regional leaders will be expected to take greater ownership of their markets, with decisions driven by customer needs and conditions on the ground, or Genba.
By putting local teams closer to the decision-making process, Toyota aims to respond faster to market changes and improve the way it manages its regional businesses.
The restructuring will also bring in new leadership across North America, China and Asia, including new regional CEOs and a new President of Business Planning & Operation.
These appointments are intended to lead each region's transition towards becoming a Mobility Company, while making better use of resources and strengths across different markets to improve Toyota's overall competitiveness.

The facelifted Yaris for the Thai market
Toyota is also reorganising its regional operations, replacing the existing structure that grouped India, the Middle East, East Asia and Oceania under a single division.
From January 2027, the current division will be replaced by two separate regional units:
The new structure is intended to give each region a clearer focus and allow its operations to be managed in line with local market conditions.
The India & Middle East Region will focus on the launch of a new manufacturing plant in India, while coordinating business operations and functional responsibilities across the region. The aim is to establish a stronger foundation for future growth.
The East Asia & Oceania Region, which includes Southeast Asia, will place greater emphasis on understanding local customers and the needs of individual markets. This includes working more closely with local sales and manufacturing operations, taking into account differences in market conditions, stages of development and business challenges.
Toyota aims to develop products, services and business operations that better reflect local requirements, supporting its ambition to become the leading brand in each market.

Toyota's latest restructuring signals a move away from managing several diverse markets under broad regional divisions. By separating East Asia and Oceania from India and the Middle East, the company is able to give these markets more focused management and greater scope to make decisions locally.
For Southeast Asian markets such as Malaysia, the changes could mean a more tailored approach to local customer needs.
This may eventually be reflected in vehicle introductions, aftersales services and wider market strategies, although the actual impact will depend on how the new regional teams put the changes into practice.
