Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max and N70 Max: What to expect at 2026 Chengdu Motor Show

We've spotted Xiaomi's new SkyNomad N90 Max and N70 Max ahead of the 2026 Chengdu Motor Show, giving us an up-close look at the brand's latest range-extender SUVs.

Both models opened for pre-orders on 30 July, with the N90 Max priced from RMB 299,900 (~RM 184k) and the N70 Max from RMB 259,900 (~RM 160k). The two SUVs are expected to go on sale in September.

Exterior: Bold SUV styling

The SkyNomad N90 Max goes for a more upright, squared-off look, with the chunky proportions you would expect from a traditional off-roader.

A SkyNomad badge sits prominently across the front, while the distinctive "Dragonfly Wing" headlights are one of its standout features. Xiaomi says they can project light up to 624 metres.

There are three new exterior colours to choose from: Mountain Green, Valley Blue and Volcano Grey.

At 5.28 metres long, the N90 Max is a sizeable SUV, with a wheelbase of more than 3 metres.

The N70 Max is more compact, measuring around 4.96 metres in length. At the rear, it gets a full-width Star Ring tail-light design, giving it a distinctive look when the lights are on.

A cabin built around screens

Inside, the N90 Max gets a long list of screens and other cabin features.

The N90 Max gets a 16.1-inch 3K central display, an 8.88-inch instrument panel and a 20-inch head-up display. There are also dedicated screens and controls for rear passengers.

Other features include a 9-litre smart fridge, hidden storage compartments and a Xiaomi audio system.

The cabin also runs on a Snapdragon 8-series chip with Xiaomi's XiaoAi voice assistant, covering the usual infotainment and voice-control functions.

Space and practicality

The N90 Max uses a 2+2+3 seven-seat layout, with electrically adjustable zero-gravity seats adding some flexibility to the cabin.

With the second- and third-row seats pushed forward, the SUV can carry two complete 25-inch road bikes without removing their wheels.

The rear doors open to almost 90 degrees, making it easier for passengers to get in and out.

Even with all seven seats occupied, the boot can reportedly fit seven 20-inch suitcases, giving the N90 Max plenty of room for longer trips.

Powertrain and range

Both the N90 Max and N70 Max use range-extender powertrains with electric motors driving the wheels.

The N90 Max gets dual-motor all-wheel drive with a combined output of 310 kW, taking it from 0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds.

Xiaomi claims a CLTC combined range of up to 1,705 km, while fuel consumption with the battery depleted is rated at 6.26 litres/100km.

The SUV also supports fast charging, taking 18 minutes to charge from 20% to 80%.

The N70 Max also uses a dual-motor AWD setup, with a claimed 1,461 km combined range and fuel consumption of 6.1 litres/100km with a depleted battery.

Both models come with Xiaomi's in-house AI model, along with LiDAR, millimetre-wave radar and high-definition cameras. The sensor suite supports the cars' driver-assistance functions, including highway driving and low-speed manoeuvring and parking.
