Japan-style travel hub opens at LaLaport BBCC – KL-Singapore buses, KLIA shuttle, rail links within one mall

The launch was officiated by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department for Federal Territories, Hannah Yeoh. Also present were APAD deputy director of development Azrin Borhan, Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri TPr Fadlun Mak Ujud and Japan’s ambassador to Malaysia, H.E. Noriyuki Shikata.

The LaLaport Transportation Hub has been operating in phases since February 2026. Prior to operations beginning, Transport Minister Anthony Loke visited the site in January to review its progress.

The facility features 11 bus bays, a dedicated air-conditioned waiting lounge, physical ticket counters, self-service machines and a Passenger Information Display System for real-time bus schedule updates.

Travellers will also have access to facilities inside LaLaport BBCC, including ATMs, money changers, luggage lockers, 24-hour security monitoring, free Wi-Fi, restrooms and accessible facilities for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

Connectivity is one of the hub’s main selling points. LaLaport BBCC is directly linked by pedestrian access to the Hang Tuah LRT and Monorail stations, while nearby MRT connectivity allows passengers to transfer between rail and bus services more easily.

Beyond express buses, the mall also offers the Boleh-Boleh Ride on-demand shuttle service to selected destinations in Kuala Lumpur. Dedicated e-hailing pick-up and drop-off zones are available at the Pudu Entrance and Hang Tuah Entrance.

Around 30 bus operators are expected to use the LaLaport Transportation Hub as a primary city-centre transit point, especially for cross-border Kuala Lumpur-Singapore routes. The hub also provides dedicated shuttle van services to KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, giving travellers another airport transfer option.

Mitsui Fudosan (Asia) Malaysia managing director Masayoshi Saito said the hub is designed to support smoother journeys for both local and overseas travellers, while also contributing to the government’s sustainable mobility and tourism agenda.

He added that because the hub is located inside the mall, passengers can access LaLaport BBCC’s wider facilities while waiting, including around 300 stores, food and beverage outlets, retail options and entertainment offerings.

The project draws inspiration from Mitsui Fudosan’s integrated transportation hub developments in Japan, including Tokyo Midtown Yaesu and the ongoing Tsukiji redevelopment, where transport infrastructure is combined with retail and lifestyle spaces.

The LaLaport Transportation Hub is operated by Asia Success Resources Sdn Bhd, which also has experience operating at KLIA Terminal 2. The hub was developed with Semba Corporation, which handled the functional planning and overall design concept.

By placing bus services, rail connectivity, e-hailing, shuttle services and mall facilities in one location, LaLaport BBCC says the hub is intended to reduce reliance on private cars, support public transport usage and improve first-to-last-mile mobility in the city centre.
